Our faithful captain was nowhere to be seen as the original Ducks returned to town
(Warning: Slight spoilers ahead for this week’s episode of “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers”)
This week’s episode of “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” gave those who grew up on the films exactly what they were looking for — the return of the original Ducks. Well, most of them at least. And, as great as it was seeing the former Ducks we did get, there was a notable absence: Charlie.
The episode brought the return of six original Ducks: Fulton Reed (Elden Henson), Adam Banks (Vinny La Russo), Kenny Wu (Justin Wong), Averman (Matt Doherty), Connie (Marguerite Moreau) and Guy (Garret Henson). They were all back to town for the Spirit of the Ducks gala, celebrating the history of the team.
Charlie Conway, played by Joshua Jackson, was the original captain of the Mighty Ducks.

Ducks fly together. It was true in the 90s, and it’s still true in the new Disney+ series “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” — they’re just far more exclusive about who they’ll fly with now.
In this continuation, the Mighty Ducks are no longer the scrappy underdogs, and instead have become the “if you’re not a winner, you’re a loser” team. They’re led by Coach T (Dylan Playfair) who is blunt and apathetic, who cuts our new hero Evan Morrow from the team without so much as a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. He simply says “At this age, if you can’t be great at hockey, it’s like…don’t bother.
The kids on the team are all either high-strung or outright bullies. They’re the cool kids in school, and as soon as Evan is no longer one of them, he’s...

Gordon Bombay is back, but a lot has changed since we last caught up with him. The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will introduce a down-and-out Bombay who’s reached his low point living at the hockey rink he inherited from his mentor Hans. It’s a stark contrast to the smiling man we saw walking away from a cheering crowd in D3: The Mighty Ducks.
“He’s a little broken. He’s a little beat up by life, and he’s kind of hiding out,” Emilio Estevez, who reprises his role as Bombay on the Disney+ series (premiering this Friday), tells TVLine.

This will give you a reason to quack! On Thursday, March 18, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers creator Steven Brill, who wrote the original Mighty Ducks franchise, announced that some of the Og stars will be appearing in episode six of the Disney+ series. As Brill told EW, former cast members Elden Henson, Matt Doherty, Vincent Larusso, Marguerite Moreau, Garette Henson and Justin Wong will all be reprising their roles. "It starts with a fun encounter Coach Bombay (Emilio Estevez) has with Fulton (Henson)—they have an interesting run-in on the street reminiscent of ways they used to meet each other back in the early days," Brill said. "This chance meeting between Bombay and Fulton leads to a...

Singapore’s 108 Media has secured the support of the Malaysian authorities to develop horror-action film “Best Served Cold,” based on the short story “Don’t Eat The Rice” by Sabah-based author Jill Girardi and characters in her novel “Hantu Macabre.” The adaptation is by writer-director Aaron Cowan.
The film could be one of the first to make use of the new bilateral co-production treaty between Singapore and Malaysia. “We would like to congratulate Malaysia’s Siung Films and Singapore’s 108 Media. Both Malaysia and Singapore are excited about this effort as we are planning for Malaysia-Singapore Treaty discussion starting in January 2020,” said Hans Isaac, chairman of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas). “Finas Malaysia encourages and welcomes co-production treaties with not just Singapore but other countries to establish closer relationship that eases buying, distribution, content creating and collaboration.”

Twitch, the Amazon-owned video game broadcasting service, has laid off around 25 employees to make “adjustments” in its content and marketing teams.
A Twitch rep confirmed the company made cutbacks but declined to specify how many employees were laid off. The layoffs, which occurred Thursday, were first reported by Polygon.
However, Twitch has “an aggressive growth strategy for 2018 with plans to increase our headcount by approximately 30%,” the Twitch spokesman added. The company currently has around 1,500 employees, which would imply it’s expecting to hire some 450 new employees.
“While we’ve conducted team adjustments in some departments, our focus is on prioritizing areas most important for the community,” the Twitch spokesman said.
Twitch staffers who have been let go include Justin Wong, VP, community and social; Ben Goldhaber (aka FishStix), director of content marketing; video production manager Adam Contini, and network content director Jon Carnage.
According to esports consultant and broadcaster Rod Breslau,...
