Update, 1:40 Pm: We spoke too soon. TV news types blasted MSNBC’s Ronan Farrow after he tweeted/touted this morning that he had exclusive footage of the girlfriend of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 passenger Philip Wood when she received news from Malaysia Airlines that it believed the plane went down in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Australia and that there were no survivors. Farrow tweeted by way of promoting his MSNBC program that is telecast at 1 Pm. His tweet was deleted when outrage ensued, and sniffed at his earlier self in a subsequent tweet: 1pm @RonanDaily: the latest on how loved ones received the news – and yes, we will respect their dignity and privacy in what we show. — Ronan Farrow (@RonanFarrow) March 24, 2014 But not until CNN editor Justin Lear tweeted: I wish @RonanFarrow would have thought more before tweeting about exclusive on MH370 family getting text about the plane.

A satellite image released by China on Saturday offers the latest sign that wreckage from a Malaysia Airlines plane lost for more than two weeks could be in a remote stretch of the southern Indian Ocean where planes and ships have been searching for three days. China's State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense said on its website that a Chinese satellite took an image of an object measuring 72 feet by 43 feet around noon Tuesday. The image location was about 75 miles south of where an Australian satellite viewed two objects two days earlier. The larger object was...

var brightcovevideoid = '3367195386001'; As searchers failed Thursday to find debris spotted by satellite near Australia that may be from Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, Sarah Bajc, the girlfriend of American passenger Philip Wood, clung to hope that he and others are still alive. "Just another lead," says Bajc, noting that every other lead has turned out to be a dead end. "Wolf has been cried so many times. I just hope it's junk." Bajc says she and Wood have so much in common, and are so close, she intuitively would know when he was coming home early without hearing his footsteps.

The Malaysian jetliner missing for more than a week had its communications deliberately disabled and its last signal came about 7½ hours after takeoff, meaning it could have ended up as far as Kazakhstan or into the southern reaches of the Indian Ocean, Malaysia's leader said Saturday. Prime Minister Najib Razak's statement confirmed days of mounting speculation that the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 was not accidental, refocusing the investigation into the flight's crew and passengers and underlining the massive task for searchers who already have been scouring vast areas of ocean. "Clearly the search for (Flight) MH370 has entered a new phase,...

Source: Facebook user Christopher Wood There's still a lot of mystery surrounding Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370, the plane that went missing on March 8, but as the search continues, stories about the flight's passengers are beginning to surface. The names of three American citizens are on the manifest released by the airline, and there's the possibility that a fourth passenger, an infant, may also be a Us citizen. Among that group, 51-year-old Philip Wood is the only adult American on board, and Philip's family has spoken out to say they're holding out hope for his survival. Christopher, Philip's 20-year-old son, said, "Until we have a definitive answer on his whereabouts and those of the plane and its passengers, we will refuse to believe that my father has passed away. He is and always will be a member of our family and, most importantly, my father, and I wouldn't give up hope so easily.

With the weekend's clues falling through, the search area has been expanded for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which lost contact with the airline on Friday, seemingly vanishing into thin air over the South China Sea without sending a distress signal. Over the weekend, reports indicated that a Vietnamese search plane had found fragments of an aircraft including a piece of the tail and part of a door, but that turned out to be untrue. Meanwhile, search crews also spotted oil slicks that were six to nine miles long in the same area where the Boeing 777-200Er lost contact with air traffic controllers, but it ended up being the fuel oil that's used in cargo ships. Without any signs of the plane, the FBI sent agents and technical experts to the region to assist in the around-the-clock investigation involving several countries. On Tuesday, Malaysian officials also released new information about...

As searchers scoured the Gulf of Thailand for the wreckage of a Malaysia Airlines flight that went missing on Friday, the family of Philip Wood, the only adult American on board, released a statement about the Texas native. "Philip Wood was a wonderful man," his ex-wife Elaine, who lives in Keller, Texas, said. "Although we were no longer married, he is still family. His sons and I just want peace and quiet right now." Wood, 50, who worked as a technical storage executive for Ibm in Malaysia, was one of 227 passengers and 12 crew traveling on Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
