He then went west and attended the famous UCLA Film School, where his classmates included Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas. After a rather non-prolific career, he moved to New York City, where he did work on commercial, corporate, and documentary pieces. In 1982, he and and Frances Tamburro opened their own production company, Gary Young Associates. They moved back to New Mexico in 1989 and settled in Corrales, marrying and eventually having six children.
