No one has lived more life than Drew Barrymore. There's a bit of odd poetry in the fact that the iconic actress spent three seasons on the Netflix comedy Santa Clarita Diet, playing undead realtor Sheila Hammond who only truly came to life after a traumatic incident that should've left her for dead. Because if there's any actress on this planet who can relate to that concept, it's Barrymore. With a career that started when she was still in diapers and, brief fallow periods aside, that has never really stopped, a family history that's not without its struggles, a childhood that was anything but child-like, the actress-turned-daytime talk show host has been through it. And like her character...

It's all over but the flossing for Joel and Sheila Hammond. The Santa Clarita Diet TV show has been cancelled by Netflix. The third and final season of the series dropped on March 29, 2019. Since there will be no season four of the zombie sitcom, episode 30, the season three finale, "The Cult of Sheila," will serve as the Santa Clarita Diet TV series finale.

The action centers on Santa Clarita, California realtors Sheila and Joel Hammond (Barrymore and Olyphant) and their teen daughter, Abbey (Hewson). Santa Clarita Diet has reached its end, and it's not coming back to life. On April 26, Netflix announced that the series will not return after season three, which dropped on March 29. The comedy - which centers around a woman named Sheila Hammond (Drew Barrymore) who dies and is resurrected as a zombie - first premiered in 2017, gaining acclaim for its nonconventional concept.
"The world had never known a 'zom-com' until Santa Clarita Diet, and we're indebted to creator Victor Fresco for bringing this idea to Netflix," the streaming giant said in a statement. Netflix also commended Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant - who stars as Sheila's nonzombie husband, Joel - for their contributions to the show, adding, "To their endless credit, the incredible Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant were totally game, with an uncanny knack for comedy that brought Sheila and Joel Hammond to vibrant life, even though one of them was undead.

True love may never die in the living dead horror comedy Santa Clarita Diet, but the series itself looks to be coming to an end, as Netflix has canceled the show after three seasons.
Multiple sources, including The Hollywood Reporter, confirm the cancellation news surrounding Santa Clarita Diet, which just premiered its third season on Netflix on March 29th.
Since its premiere in 2017, Santa Clarita Diet (created by Victor Fresco) has followed Sheila Hammond (Drew Barrymore), a real estate agent who finds her life turned upside down when she becomes a zombie with a ravenous appetite for human flesh. Aided by her husband, Joel (Timothy Olyphant), her daughter, Abby (Liv Hewson), and neighbor, Eric (Skyler Gisondo), Sheila finds that when you become one of the living dead, life is far from over, it's just beginning... albeit with more blood and guts.

“Santa Clarita Diet” isn’t getting a fourth season. Less than a month after the zombie-themed sitcom’s third season launched, Netflix has canceled the show starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant.
“Like our audience, we were all-in on Sheila and Joel. Their relationship, in the face of incredible adversity, was inspiring to write and to watch. Mostly, they were funny, which in a comedy is important,” creator and executive producer Victor Fresco and executive producer Tracy Katsky said in a joint statement. “Working with Drew and Tim, along with the immensely talented Liv and Skyler, was a joy and a once in a lifetime experience.”
“Netflix took a chance on this odd show and for that we will always be grateful. They were supportive, ever positive, and appreciative of our work. Until about noon today. Still, they were just one phone call away from being a perfect studio. Not bad,...

There will be no fourth season for Netflix’s dark comedy series Santa Clarita Diet as the streaming giant has opted to cancel the series starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant. The news comes almost a month after the March 29 release of the show’s third season.
Santa Clarita Diet is the latest Netflix series canceled after three seasons. Following Deadline’s story examining the trend, fans of the show started a #SaveSantaClaritaDiet Twitter campaign, rallying for a Season 4 renewal. Like with the recently axed Netflix comedy series One Day At a Time, also after three seasons, the cancellation for Santa Clarita Diet comes after a very strong season, which scored 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Barrymore-Olyphant starrer also had developed devoted following and, while Netflix does not release ratings data, its third season appeared on various Top 10 binge/streaming rankings over the past month.

Joel and Sheila Hammond have quite bit to deal with still. But Netflix is bidding farewell to Santa Clarita Diet
The following contains spoilers for Santa Clarita Diet Season 3.
Santa Clarita Diet Season 4 won't be crawling out of the grave anytime soon. Netflix has announced that it is opting not to renew its zom-rom-com series for a fourth season, effectively cancelling it. Deadline first reported the news.
Santa Clarita Diet is a fascinating comedy/drama/zombie hybrid from creator Victor Fresco. It stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as suburban married couple and real estate agents Sheila and Joel Hammond. It just so happens that Sheila is also an undead monster who craves the taste of human flesh.

The bloody and brilliant Santa Clarita Diet doubles down on heavy mythology in Season 3 and matures in exciting ways.
This Santa Clarita Diet review contains no spoilers.
“Maybe my life does have a higher purpose that’s more than just killing people?”
Santa Clarita Diet Season 3 continues to prove that the show is one of those very special series that keeps on getting more interesting and rich as time goes on. The series evolves at the rate of highly concentrated prestige drama, but it’s a comedy about the undead, family values, and realty. Ever since the minute in the pilot where Drew Barrymore’s Sheila Hammond coats her husband Joel (and the better part of their kitchen) with her innards and viscera, it’s been clear that this show is something different.

"I wanna be about more than just eating people, but I also really enjoy eating people." Sheila and Joel Hammond return in the season 3 trailer for Santa Clarita Diet, and this time, in addition to nosy neighbors (who could end up on Sheila's menu) they also have to figure out if they want to spend eternity together (which would require Joel to be turned into one of the living dead).
Below, you can watch the new trailer for Santa Clarita Diet Season 3, which will arrive on Netflix on March 29th.

'Santa Clarita Diet' Season 3 Trailer Suggests Timothy Olyphant's Character Could Also Become Undead
When Netflix revealed the release date for the third season of its zombie comedy Santa Clarita Diet, viewers were treated to a clip of Drew Barrymore's undead realtor Sheila Hammond asking her husband and fellow realtor Joel (Timothy Olyphant) to spend the next 1,000 years with her.
And while viewers didn't get an answer, all Joel could seem to muster was a "wow"; the concept of the Hammonds spending eternity together takes center stage in the first full trailer for the upcoming batch of episodes.

There's more zombie goodness coming up on Santa Clarita Diet.
Netflix on Thursday revealed that the third season the comedy series will launch on the streamer on Friday, March 29.
The streamer also unveiled a teaser for the new season, and we think it's fair to say it was a perfect decision to launch it on Valentine's Day.
The clip puts a zombie spin on wedding vows. It has the show's signature brand of wit to boot, so there's that.

The series follows Joel and Sheila Hammond, everyday suburban real estate agents in Santa Clarita, California.
The couple's life is turned upside down when Sheila has a physical transformation into a zombie and starts craving human flesh.
With Joel and the family trying to help Sheila through the trying time, they have to deal with neighbors, cultural norms and getting to the bottom of a potentially mythological mystery.

Drew Barrymore's list of TV and movie credits date back to 1980 and include everything from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial to Family Guy and now Santa Clarita Diet. In her current role on the Netflix comedy, Barrymore plays Sheila Hammond, a real estate agent who, well, dies. And then lives again as a zombie. So, technically undead. The role has Barrymore eating all sorts of simulated human body parts and is a little too mature for her children, Olive, born in 2012, and Frankie, born in 2014, to see just yet, so "it'll be years down the line" before she shows it to them, Barrymore said. "I feel like my daughter, Olive, because she sort of has a little bit of the weight of world on her shoulders, but...

Drew Barrymore Reveals Why She Loves Santa Clarita Diet's Blood and Guts (And What They're Made Of!)
Drew Barrymore eats brains for a living. Well, they're not exactly brains, but on Santa Clarita Diet, they're supposed to look like them. Barrymore returns as Sheila Hammond, an undead realtor with a hunger for human flesh, in Santa Clarita Diet season two alongside Timothy Olyphant as Joel Hammond. The new season picks up right where season one ended; Shelia is still an insatiable zombie (of sorts), occasionally giving in to her hunger for humans. The result? Barrymore gets covered in fake blood, guts and all sorts of things that look like they're straight out of a zombie apocalypse. "I like it," Barrymore told E! News. "I think it's just different. Santa Clarita Diet was quick to establish its strong feminist perspective when its first season debuted last year. As Drew Barrymore's meek suburban real estate agent Sheila Hammond transformed from living to undead, she also became noticeably more confident and assertive, even aggressive.
Now with the second season of Netflix's zombie sitcom premiering Friday, as more and more women are speaking out via the #MeToo movement, the show's take-charge female characters seem even more timely.
It's a perspective that Barrymore ironically attributes to the vision of male creator and showrunner Victor Fresco.

Barrymore shared a sweet snapshot to Instagram showing her getting her hair dyed alongside her little girl. Olive clearly didn't want to miss out on the fun, so her mom noted that stylist Tracey Cunningham "puts conditioner in foils on her for solidarity."

Sheila Hammond (Barrymore) and her husband Joel (played by Timothy Olyphant), are just a pair of standard suburban real estate agents. They live a standard suburban life in a standard suburban home, with their standard suburban 16 year old daughter Abby (played by Liv Hewson).
Then, one day, for no discernible reason, whilst the couple are showing a house, Sheila exorcises a Herculean amount of vomit, a small red organ-type thing, and dies. But then,...

Dark comedy doesn’t come easily. It requires a deft touch, an uncompromising vision, an unflinching disregard for general wide audience appeal. That doesn’t come naturally to Hollywood. Likewise, edgy suburban satires are just as difficult to perfect. The seedy underbelly of American outskirts is ground well-trenched and, well, over-spoiled. Few rise to the standards bestowed by Blue Velvet or The Virgin Suicides, to name a couple, and even fewer find a premise unexplored, or worth exploring, in that confined environment. That’s why it was safe to dismiss Netflix’s residential horror-comedy Santa Clarita Diet at first. After all, what could it bring to the table?

Drew Barrymore has her head held high. As the leading star of Netflix's newest series, The Santa Clarita Diet, the longtime actress is taking on the role of a California real estate agent suddenly turning into a zombie. While the character is unlike anyone in her acting repertoire, playing Sheila Hammond had an even greater personal effect on Barrymore. "[The role] came sort of in the middle of a moment in my life where I had sort of let myself go due to personal circumstances," she told Today's Natalie Morales on Friday. The personal circumstances Barrymore might have been referring to was her recent split from husband Will Kopelman after nearly four years of...

Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant turn zombeism and vigilante justice into a family affair in Netflix's new horror-comedy, Santa Clarita Diet.
The Netflix original series is about a husband-and-wife realtor team, Joel and Sheila Hammond, whose suburban lives are upended after Sheila (Barrymore) continues to live after her heart stops beating – and develops a taste for human flesh. The couple are generally optimistic about Sheila's new status as an undead person (the family agrees the term "zombie" is "inherently negative"), but her inability to control her hunger forces the Hammonds to take drastic measures.

Drew Barrymore has picked quite the show for her first lead TV series role. On Netflix’s “Santa Clarita Diet,” she will play Sheila Hammond, a devoted wife, mother, real estate agent… and cannibal. The first trailer shows Sheila discussing business with her husband, John (Timothy Olyphant), while they dispose of some bloody human organs in the middle of the night. It seems that one day, Sheila’s heart just suddenly decided it was going to stop beating. She’s now an undead creature with a craving for human flesh. But other than that, she’s still the same. Also...
