The dust has now settled after the release of the FIFA 15 demo and gamers have taken to social media, forums and football stadiums to voice their opinions on the latest instalment of the FIFA series.
Reactions have been varied from: “EA Sports have almost achieved perfection” to “Not feeling this FIFA 15 demo; don’t think I’ll be queuing up at the midnight release.”
FIFA 15 has added the ability to measure the emotional state of all 22 players in the starting line-ups – Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli will no doubt always be on edge.
Other improvements include that the pitch will show signs of wear and tear as the game progresses, players’ kits will look ready for a cringeworthy Ariel advert as they jump from slide tackle to slide tackle and defenders will now perform David Luiz’s favourite move of placing their arms behind their back to avoid conceding a handball.

Reading’s unceremonious sacking of Brian McDermott on Monday has been met with derision from across the footballing world, as figures from the game, journalists and fans alike bemoan another potentially short-sighted decision to let go of a good manager in an attempt to stave off relegation late in the day. It’s an increasingly common occurrence in the Premier League – but does it ever actually pay off?
The lack of sentiment shown by Reading majority shareholder Anton Zingarevich was apparent. In his time in charge of Reading since the end of 2009, McDermott had taken a struggling Championship side and over-achieved, steadying the ship before taking them back into the top flight, where they have fought a brave battle against relegation despite having the weakest squad in the Premier League. But that wasn’t enough for Zingarevich, though, and the axe fell on McDermott with just nine games remaining this season.

With the destination of the Six Nations Trophy already decided, this was a battle for second place. Like in Cardiff the weather was a bit grim, a sheen of rain lying on the pitch.
The first scrum of the game yielded an immediate penalty for England which Farrell slid over for the three points. It was to be a telling omen for the afternoon.
Ireland’s first chance came after a series of turnovers for both sides ended up in the mitts of Keith Earls, the centre causing the Twickenham crowd to catch their breath with his speed before ignoring the man outside and ending up enveloped in the arms of the covering Ben Foden.

He has been out of work since leaving Cardiff City last summer and the Wolves owners are believed to have put an Sos call out to him in the last few days, possibly reminded that Jones has said he has “unfinished business” at Molineux.
After Mick McCarthy was sacked on Monday 13th February, Wolves owners have interviewed almost a dozen candidates for the position but despite offers being put out to managers in and out of work, nobody seems to want the job...

Just as we were about to publish this article, former Rangers manager Walter Smith has emerged as favourite to take the Wolves managers job.
Smith is believed to have held talks with Wolves owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey about taking over until the end of the season after their original choice Alan Curbishely turned them down, and they aren’t certain of Steve Bruce’s credentials to keep them in the division.
63 year old Smith has reportedly turned down the Wolves job permanently but does want to see if he can keep them in the division with the 13 games remaining, before seeing if he wants the job indefinitely. Smith has been out of work since ending his second spell as Rangers boss last year. He was previously manager of Everton for four years, is a former manager of Scotland and was even Sir Alex. Neil Warnock has been appointed the new manager of Leeds United.
The Whites have confirmed the hiring this (Saturday) morning and the ex-Sheffield United boss has been granted a contract at the Yorkshire club until the end of the 2012/2013 campaign. So basically it is less than an 18 month contract and only applies until the end of next season.
Leeds sacked previous manager Simon Grayson on February 1st as the club were slipping slightly away from the play-off places and have take their time to appointment a replacement.
Warnock, who was sacked himself just last month at Premier League outfit Queens Park Rangers, was instantly made one of the bookies favourites for the role. Though there were a few other candidates in the frame, most noticeably two fellow sacked managers in Mick McCarthy and Lee Clark of Wolves and Huddersfield Town respectively, who were fired this week.

Steve Bruce will be interviewed for the Wolves manager’s job today, according to widespread reports.
We heard yesterday that Bruce had compiled a ‘survival dossier’ to secure an interview with owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey and it has at least won him an interview.
Still odds-on bookies favourite Alan Curbishley interviewed for the job on Thursday and it is understood gave a mighty impression for how he would keep the struggling midlands side in the Premier League this term and he remains ahead in the race to replace Mick McCarthy.
Curbishley hasn’t managed a team in three and a half years, and it is his time away from the game after a difficult spell at West Ham United that has probably got the owners interested as he hasn’t failed as a manager as recently as the other candidates. Curbishley previously kept Charlton Athletic in...

The iconic St. James’s Park black lettering from the Barrack Road entrance to the stadium was removed earlier today (Thursday) by Newcastle United, likely to be replaced by offensive blue, red and white lettering of the ‘Sports Direct Arena’.
Owner Mike Ashley officially changed the name of the stadium to the ‘Sports Direct Arena’ back in November in order to further sell the stadium naming rights package for potential investors. They have since made sure the media at every turn refer to the ground as the Sports Direct Arena, much to the distaste of Geordies everywhere.
Newcastle United’s next home game is on Saturday 25th February when they welcome manager-less Wolves to the North East, though their opponents have made it known they do hope to appoint a successor to Mick McCarthy before that fixture.

Steve Bruce is so desperate to land the vacant Wolves manager’s job, he has complied a ‘survival dossier’ detailing how he could keep the Black Country side in the Premier League if he was appointed at the Molineux, reports The Daily Star.
Bruce, who lost his job at Sunderland in December, has been looking for a way back into Premier League management and this is the second job that has become available in the top flight since his sacking after Qpr mercilessly fired Neil Warnock and replaced him swiftly with Mark Hughes.
Wolves are believed to have drawn up a shortlist of candidates to replace outed Mick McCarthy, who lost his job on Monday morning after a miserable run of games, culminating in an embarrassing derby defeat from rivals West Brom. Sky Sports News sources are reporting the breaking news that Huddersfield Town manager Lee Clark has sensationally been sacked today. Nothing has been confirmed just yet and some outlets are reporting that he walked out on the job.
Huddersfield suffered a 1-0 home defeat last night to fellow promotion rivals Sheffield United.
Huddersfield currently sit fourth in League One, within touching distance of the promotion places for a route into the Championship and Clark’s ability to get this team to climb that table has had him linked with every top managerial job that has come up in the last few months. It is unbelievable to think that he has been given the boot after only their third defeat of the season last night, but the news is he has been outed.

Just one day after firing Mick McCarthy and announcing that their swill be a swift appointment as his replacement, Wolves are reported to have already drawn up a short list of potential candidates they want to interview, according to sources at Sky Sports News.
The short list is claimed to include Neil Warnock and Steve Bruce (two managers who lost their jobs at Premier League clubs this past season at Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland) and Alan Curbishley, the former Charlton and West Ham manager who has been out of a job for the past five years.
Curbishley is currently the favourite candidate for the job, following closely by Bruce and Warnock.
Current Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is third favourite at most bookmakers with former Liverpool and Inter Milan boss Rafa Benitez, who has already ruled out a return to the Premier League, fourth favourite.

After being sacked this morning from his job at Wolves, Mick McCarthy has been made joint favourite to take over the managerial vacancy at Leeds United.
Yorkshire born McCarthy, 53, served Wolves as a manager for five and a half years and got them promoted from the Championship as leaders, granting them the top flight status they still had when they fired him.
It is likely this ability to guide a side into the Premier League and his local ties (he played 272 times for neighbours Barnsley) that has the former Republic of Ireland boss’ name being spoken of in terms of the Leeds job, a club who are so desperate to get themselves back into England’s top division that they themselves got rid of boss Simon Grayson when the side were still in touching distance of the play-offs.

Breaking news coming in from Talksport, Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has been sacked this morning.
The 53 year old has lost his job just one day after an embarrassing 5-1 home defeat to heated rivals West Brom Albion in the Black Country derby on Sunday.
At the final whistle yesterday the Molineux crowd cried out thunderous boo’s for their side’s hapless display in front of a nationwide television audience on Sky Sports and a protest by hundreds of protestors at the Billy Wright statue called for the board to sack the manager.
Last night the future of McCarthy looked bleak after a run of just one win in their last 13 matches and the sword has fallen on him today, ending his five and a half year stint as Wolves boss.
The board has now released a statement;
“The board took the difficult decision after a run of form which...

Peter Odemwingie stole the show with a hat-trick as West Brom demolished a hapless Wolves side 5-1 at Molineux, in the Premier League’s fourth Black Country derby.
The Baggies dominated the match from start to finish but Wolves had somehow gone in at half time level after Stephen Fletcher’s excellent finish cancelled out Odemwingie’s opening goal. Wolves came into the game in the second half but it was West Brom who regained the lead after an error from the otherwise outstanding Wayne Hennessey allowed Jonas Olsson’s shot over the line.
As the home side pushed for an equaliser they left themselves vulnerable at the back. Odemwingie grabbed his second from a corner before Keith Andrews’ deflected shot made it four. And Odemwingie claimed his first hat-trick of the season when he finished off an excellent counter attacking move.

Yes, that’s right. It’s time for the Black Country derby. The second of the season. An event that excites all of us in the West Midlands, mistakes, goals, controversy, red cards, fouls, disputes, own goals are all things that occur in the average Wolves v West Brom derby. And you can watch the game unfold live on Sky Sports on Sunday afternoon.
This is the 146th league Black Country derby. Earlier in the season, West Brom ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from skipper Chris Brunt, who is currently out injured, and Peter Odemwingie. Last season, though, at Molienux Wolves beat the Baggies 3-1 and went onto survive relegation. It’s all about revenge this time around for Roy Hodgson’s men.
The hosts will take their extremely valuable victory at Qpr last weekend into the match on Sunday and are likely to be off straight from the blocks early on.

Team News for Queens Park Rangers vs Wolves, a 3pm Premier League kick-off this Saturday afternoon.
Transfer deadline day signing Bobby Zamora should make his Queens Park Rangers debut, striking up an instant partnership with Djibril Cisse who scored just 12 minutes into his first game for the club in Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.
With Adel Taarabt and Armand Traore now back from the African Cup of Nations duty they could play, with Jay Bothroyd also close to a return from a groin injury. He could be on the bench today.
Definitely missing out for Qpr are DJ Campbell (hamstring), Heidar Helguson (groin), Alejandro Faurlin (knee) with Akos Buzsaky (achilles) a major doubt.
For Wolves, manager Mick McCarthy has no fresh injury concerns and on-loan Spurs defender Sebastian Bassong may make his debut for the club. Midfielder Jamie O’Hare should feature after being classed fit again after his hernia operation success.

With some time off from the Hold Steady and his creative juices still flowing, frontman Craig Finn needed a challenge. Rather than stay home in Brooklyn, Finn traveled to Austin to work with a new set of musicians and producer Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Trail of Dead). The result is is new solo album, 'Clear Eyes, Full Heart,' which takes its title from the 'Friday Night Lights' motivational speech, "clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!"
The countrified tracks on the LP are much more somber and way less frenetic than Finn's usual writing for the Hold Steady, a stylistic turn that he says reflects a part of his personality that he rarely examines in his band's songs. Spinner recently caught up with Finn before his European tour to talk about the record, the wide influence of television, getting shot and being friends with Jesus.

By Wolves’ supremo Steve Morgan’s own admission, this season has not been good enough for Mick McCarthy’s men, and there is certainly a lot to be done in the second half of the season if the former Irish international is going to repay his Chairman’s faith and guide Wolves to safety.
Trouble is, there isn’t an awful lot of money available at Wolves – with estimates suggesting somewhere around £4m for the right player with experience at the top level who can bring immediate on-pitch gains to the struggling club – and January isn’t a buyer’s market. What is immediately obvious, regardless of who money is spent on, is that McCarthy needs his team to score more and concede less – at the minute their stats read like relegation fodder, and no amount of spirited displays will rescue Wolves if the end of the season comes and...

A disastrous home defeat to Aston Villa hasn’t proved to be as fatal as it could have been for Chelsea with the equally surprising defeats for the two Manchester Clubs over the weekend and Spurs dropping two points at Swansea, although realistically they are now challenging for fourth place and with that in mind wins for Arsenal and Liverpool weren’t advantages to the cause. Now Andre Villas-Boas’s men travel to the Molineux to face Wolves having just picked up three points in their last four games. January will likely prove to be a large talent swapping month at Stamford Bridge (though no signing on the grand scale of £50 million for Fernando Torres is expected) with the old guard and the unproven talent’s jobs on the line. Along with that of the manager. So a good performance and a great start to 2012 is desperately required today.

Perhaps today’s most intriguing Premier League tie takes place at Old Trafford as Manchester United, just days after their embarrassing premature exit from the Champions League, take on Mick McCarthy’s battling Wolves.
It’s hard to imagine a more depressing time for The Red Devils. Their close rivals Manchester City are five points ahead at the top of the Premier League and have already humiliated Fergie’s side on his own ground. A home defeat against Wolves for the first time 31 years could prove horrific, even a draw would be disastrous today.
It’s time for United to stand-up and be counted today. Players like Wayne Rooney, who got himself some good news with his international ban being reduced on Thursday and he may now stop sulking on the pitch. After a blistering league start he hasn’t scored since September. Ryan Giggs needs to recapture his form...

A fresh start for The Wearsiders today as they travel to Wolves, their players knowing that they have something of a fresh slate with new manager Martin O’Neill (who will be in the stands today, assistant manager Eric Black in charge until Monday) and the impetus is there to impress their new gaffer. It was obvious in the last couple of weeks that former boss Steve Bruce had lost not only the support of his players but of the fans too and with a new manager in it will hopefully bring better horizons. It sure does feel a lot longer than six months ago when Bruce led Sunderland to their highest top flight finish in a decade.

If ever there was a must win game for a Chelsea boss, this afternoon’s tie just has to be it. New boss Andre Villas-Boas has come under significant scrutiny over the last couple of weeks for what is now officially the wost start to a season since chairman Roman Abramaovich took over in 2003. The bottom line is he won’t survive too long as manager with a side that isn’t competing at the top. Going in to today’s fixture they lie 12 points adrift from Manchester City and they suffered a defeat in the Champions League this week at Bayer Leverkusen that has left many wondering just what the side might be capable of this season.
Today they take on Mick McCarthy’s Wolves, a fixture earlier in the season that probably looked a doddle, but not with their current run of form of four defeats in their last seven league games.

Wolves were the better of two error-prone sides as they welcomed Wigan to the Molineux. Jamie O’Hara, David Edwards and Stephen Ward helped Mick McCarthy’s men to a 3-1 victory, with Ben Watson’s penalty rebound the only response from the visitors. With both sides squandering many a chance, it was Wigan ‘keeper Ali Al-Habsi who kept the score looking reasonable, as weak attacks met weaker defences.
A huge game really – both teams have been very poor so far this season and would have seen this encounter as vital. After all, if they couldn’t beat today’s opponents who on earth could they beat? This was true of Wolves and Wigan – Mick McCarthy’s side hadn’t won in eight weeks, and Roberto Martinez’s Latics had lost an unbelievable seven games on the trot. It wasn’t too bold a prediction to suggest that whoever lost...
