Markus Loeffel, better known as Mark Spoon was one of Germany's
godfathers of trance and Techno. At the age of 14 he was already DJing
for parties and in clubs, mostly playing Hip Hop, in the city of
Frankfurt Germany. In 1991 he quit his job and opened up a trance club
with his "Sound-Factory," partner Azary, XS-Club. XS-Club was one of
the hottest trance spots in Frankfurt hosting a variety of various
international DJ acts until it's initial closing in 1994. In 1992, Mark
Spoon teamed up with Jam El Mar to form the duo Jam&Spoon. Jam&Spoon
released several chart topping hits such as their 1997 album
"Kleidoscope Skies." Throughout the late 90's to 00's Mark Spoon spun
as Resident-DJ at Germany and Europe's top-clubs and events such as
Mayday and becoming a 6 time veteran of Berlin's infamous trance
festival Loveparade. On January 9th 2006 Mark Spoon was found dead, at
the age of 39, in his Berlin apartment by a close friend. Spoon died of
heart complications.
