Jane is an author, dramatist, scriptwriter and criminologist, who regularly appears in documentaries. In January 2024 onwards she features in three episodes in the Crime Channel series "The Truth About My Murder" . In 2023 she is appearing in a documentary for EM on the Yorkshire Ripper, and also the Disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa who became close to The Mob in the US. Last year she appeared as an expert in the BAFTA nominated Sky documentary channel: "Fred West: The Glasgow Girls," by IWC, telling the story of the girls who were the first victims of West, and EM's "Fred and Rose West: Love and Murder" streamed for Amazon.
Her TV dramas includes storyline episodes of ITV's "", and scripts for "THE BILL", and "IN SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES", as well as creating and writing the BBC2 TV film "THE THIEVING HEADMISTRESS" starring DENIS LAWSON, PAULINE QUIRKE, GEOFFREY PALMER and herself.
Her new stage play "SUMMAT'S HAPPENED" is based on her book "AFTER EVIL" about one of the victims of the Yorkshire Ripper and will have rehearsed readings in Leeds 4th March, and Sheffield 11th 2023. Her play "LIFER" was adapted to audio, starring MICHELLE COLLINS with an intro by poet BRENDA BIRUNGI aka LADY UNCHAINED in 2021. Her drama "WHACK-A-MOLE", a dark comedy thriller featuring three generations of women, was written while Jane was a member of the HighTide Theatre Writers group, London, and formed part of the "I'm Here, Where Are You?" Arts Festival in Cambridge in 2019 followed by a regional tour. It was audio recorded in 2021 starring MICHELLE COLLINS, with NITIN GANATRA (Masood in EASTENDERS); LINDA MARLOWE (Sylvie Carter, EASTENDERS) with a poem introduction by JLS's ORITSE WILLIAMS and is in post production.
Her many regular appearances on TV have included the 90-minute film for Channel 5, "ROSE: THE MAKING OF A MONSTER" based on her book "ROSE WEST:THE MAKING OF A MONSTER", for which she was also programme consultant "TEN STEPS TO MURDER" (2021), The Earl of Shaftesbury Murder for Spungold, "THE KILLER IN MY FAMILY" (aka 'My Deadly Relation' in the U.S.) for Really, "BRITAINS MOST EVIL SERIAL KILLER", the "THE FRED AND ROSE STORY" Channel 5.
She appears on news programmes including SKY,eg, the Lucy Letby case, the death of Yorkshire Ripper, and on ITV news commenting on homicides, eg, Sabah Khan, and the harrowing abduction and murder of India Chipchase outside a Northampton club, and GOOD MORNING BRITAIN in 2021 re further possible West murders.
Jane's books "ROSE WEST:THE MAKING OF A MONSTER" and "AFTER EVIL" the later telling the story of the son of a victim of the Yorkshire Ripper, are published by Hodder & Stoughton. Her new work "THE WISHLIST" won the best unpublished novel at the Hollywood Book Festival 2021. Her thriller "BETWEEN TWO WORLDS: A DETECTIVE HOBAN NOVEL" is based on the life and work of Dennis Hoban, the iconic young Head of Leeds CID in the 1960s, and won an honorary award at the San Francisco book festival 2016. Her short story SWAN VESTA was shortlisted at the Guildford Book Festival.
Jane has a BA (Hons) Modern History at London University, a Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy in Criminology from the University of Cambridge.
