- A languages' graduate of Reading University, he made the transition from a journalist with BBC Radio 5 to anchor the corporation's round-the-clock digital television "news 24" service on its launch in 1997, before eventually finding a niche for his sardonic wit as host of the Liquid News programme.
- At the time of his premature death, Price was on sickness leave with a severe ear infection. Although it was initially feared he had overdosed on barbiturates, a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive. Almost two months after death a coroner ruled he died of heart failure caused by a rare brain disease similar to meningitis, called meningoencephalitis.
- Came to prominence in 2001, when the UK tabloid Press revealed he'd secured a six-figure contract to present an entertainment show for the little-known BBC Choice channel. He said of himself at the time: "I'm fat, bald and gay - the most unlikely television star."
- In 2002, he co-hosted the BBC's "A Song for Europe" competition with Clare Sweeney and was to have performed an active broadcasting role during that year's Eurovision Song Contest.
- 19th June 2002: At the inquest, a coroner ruled that Price was killed by heart failure caused by meningoencephalitis, a rare brain disease. Verdict of death by natural causes recorded.
