One year after Starz confirmed a “Party Down” revival series is in the works, we finally have more details to serve up. The six-episode follow-up to the cult comedy classic is officially “reviving the party” for fans, as Variety reported in March 2021.
“Party Down” originally premiered in 2009, with Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Ryan Hansen, and Martin Starr as the core cast of caterers with big dreams of making it in Hollywood. Each episode centered around a different catering job: from Sweet Sixteens to Bar Mitzvahs, funerals to pre-school fundraisers. The series ran for two seasons.
“Before the cast of ‘Party Down’ became well-known television and movie actors and award winners, they were all wearing the same pink bowties as part of a less than competent team of Los Angeles cater-waiters while chasing their dreams of stardom on the Starz series,” Christina Davis, Starz original programming president,...

The 2018 feature “Blindspotting” remains one of those movies that many felt should have been bigger. Now, there’s an opportunity to celebrate the story and learn more about the world courtesy of Starz’s upcoming series adaptation, which has unveiled its first trailer.
The series picks up six months after the events of the film and focuses on Ashley (played by Jasmine Cephas-Jones), the girlfriend of Miles (Rafael Casal), who’s trying to establish a quality middle-class life in Oakland, CA. But after her boyfriend is arrested and sent to prison, Ashley and her young son are forced to move in with Miles’ mother, Rainey (Helen Hunt) and his half-sister Trish (Jaylen Barron).
The trailer certainly shows off the bombastic world established in “Blindspotting,” with bold colors, wry humor, and existential questions delivered straight to camera. It also features Casal, who co-wrote and co-starred in the movie, though his writing and onscreen partner,...

Starz has ordered the horror comedy “Shining Vail” starring Greg Kinnear and Courteney Cox.
“Shining Vale” also stars Mira Sorvino, Merrin Dungey, Gus Birney and Dylan Gage. The eight-episode series is from Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan.
“Shining Vale” is a horror comedy about a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place. But no one seems to notice except for Pat (Cox), who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed – turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same.
Patricia “Pat” Phelps is a former “wild child” who rose to fame by writing a raunchy, drug-and-alcohol-soaked women’s empowerment novel (a.k.a. lady porn). Fast forward 17 years later, Pat is clean and sober but totally unfulfilled. She still hasn’t written her second novel, she can’t remember the last time she had sex with...

Krista's storyline came to a grisly end on Hightown Season 1 Episode 5, but it was the type of development we needed to push Jackie closer to confronting her demons.
Hightown Season 1 Episode 6, airing Sunday at 8/7c on Starz, finds Jackie in a troubled state. The young woman she has been pursuing is dead, and the truth about Sherry's murder seems too far out of grasp.
Jackie continues to have nightmares, and Starz offered us an exclusive sneak peek at the latest of which.
Jackie is haunted by Krista, but will it push Jackie in the right direction to crack the case that has been plaguing her throughout Hightown Season 1?
The series has done exceptionally well in the storylining department. Rebecca Cutter and her team of writers have brought us an intricately plotted murder mystery with a timely story.
It makes sense then that the series has been renewed.

Starz has renewed crime drama “Hightown” for Season 2, the pay TV channel announced Thursday.
Set on idyllic Cape Cod, the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced series, which premiered May 17, “follows one woman’s journey to sobriety, intertwined with an unfolding murder investigation,” per Starz’s official description. “Jackie Quiñones, a hard-partying National Marine Fisheries Service agent, has her free-wheeling life thrown into disarray when she discovers a body on the beach – another casualty of Cape Cod’s opioid epidemic. As a result of this trauma, Jackie takes the first steps toward becoming sober– until she becomes convinced that it’s up to her to solve the murder. Now at odds with Sergeant Ray Abruzzo (James Badge Dale), an abrasive but effective member of the Cape Cod Interagency Narcotics Unit, Jackie starts to spiral. And she’s not alone. Filming on Outlander season 6 was set to begin last month as part of Starz’s continuing efforts to appease fans of the time-traveling series who hate to wait very long for new episodes to appear, but as the industry shutdown went into effect earlier in the year, not even a Droughtlander could be avoided.
True, it might be a long wait for season 6 now that the pandemic has put a spanner in the works, but Starz has a new travel series in the pipeline starring Outlander‘s Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish that should please viewers who long to reconnect with the Scottish scenery from past seasons, as the pair will be visiting filming locations like Inverness and the Culloden battlefield for a new docuseries called Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham.

Hulu has opted not to proceed with an ambitious two-series drama project based on two John Grisham’s novels, the 1995 The Rainmaker and 2015 Rogue Lawyer.
I hear there is interest from other potential buyers in the project, which had been envisioned as the first chapter in a larger franchise, tentatively titled The Grisham Universe. It hails from writers Michael Seitzman, Jason Richman, Grisham, ABC Signature and Seitzman and Christina Davis’ ABC Studios-based Maniac Productions.
The Grisham Universe had been in development at Hulu since last year and opened a writers room in December. I hear its scope of the multi-series drama and the big budget associated with the premise might have been a factor in Disney-owned Hulu’s decision.
The Rainmaker-Rogue Lawyer is described as “two books, two shows, one shared storyline” with Seitzman and Richman serving as co-showrunners. The plan was for the two series — both set...

Exclusive: Disney+ has abruptly pulled the plug on one of the high-profile original series in the works at the streaming service, Book of Enchantment, an adaptation of the Villains book series by Serena Valentino featuring some of Disney’s most popular villains.
I hear the decision was largely creative, related to show’s tone and direction. It came down yesterday when the project was shut down 13 weeks into a writers room where a team had been working on scripts.
Book of Enchantment had been in the works at Disney+ for almost a year. While it had not been formally greenlighted, budget conversations had been progressing, producers had scouted locations, expensive pay-or-play staffing deals had been made, and a May 2020 production start in the UK had been eyed.
The Book of Enchantment adaptation appeared tailor-made for Disney’s upcoming family-oriented direct-to-consumer platform, slated for a November 12 debut. Envisioned as an epic...

Poor unfortunate souls, so sad, so true… at least that’s one way to view those folks who delude themselves that they’re going to survive in this media landscape without a Disney+ subscription. Indeed, the House Mouse is building a murderer’s row of freshman talent for their new streaming service, which will debut later this year to compete with Netflix. Hulu has nixed plans for TV shows based on John Grisham’s The Rainmaker and Rogue Lawyer, which were set to showcase a shared universe.

ABC has put in development Trailblazer, a one-hour drama from former Quantico writer Joe Webb, Michael Seitzman and Christina Davis’ Maniac Productions and ABC Studios, where Maniac is based.
Penned by Webb, Trailblazer centers on Jordan Cruz, the gifted men’s basketball coach at a small D3 college in South Dakota who rises to fame when she’s recruited by UCLA to become the first female coach of a Division 1 men’s team. While she quickly wins over the school’s female President and shares an undeniable spark with the scout who discovered her, Jordan faces more enemies than friends as she disrupts the Old Boys’ clubhouse of big-time college hoops. The drama is about the strength it takes to achieve greatness, and the wisdom to realize we can’t do it alone.
While Jordan is a fictional character, female coaches have been rising in the world of basketball.

It's shocking that we're only a week away from the Season 2 finale, when a winner will be crowned. But for now, Christina Aguilera is the one wearing the tiara. This ensemble really looks like she stole it from a "Toddlers and Tiaras" contestant and don't worry -- you'll get a full look at it (twice).
In order to determine who will swipe that headpiece out of Christina's weave make it to the final round, the ever relevant host Carson Daly reminds us that America and the coadges have equal say. The coadges have 100 votes to split among their team members as they sit fit and then America's votes -- via phone, social network, iTunes, etc. -- factor into the other half.

The coadges have 100 votes to split among their team members as they sit fit and then America's votes -- via phone, social network, iTunes, etc. -- factor into the other half.

There's only one thing more unsettling than watching two out of eight competitors on last night's The Voice receive surprise eliminations at episode's end: watching Adam Levine mumble and stutter for approximately 30 hours before giving simple criticisms. Bad news, everyone: Adam is suddenly the worst! His nervous preambles are so damn time-consuming! Last week I realized that Christina Aguilera often shares valuable insight with the contestants (even if she can't remember their names, as was the case with the wrongfully dismissed Tony Vincent), and now I'm realizing a far scarier fact -- that Adam Levine is worried about not seeming nice. What could be a more disgusting fear? He should focus his phobia on Xtina's stagewear, which -- during her performance of "Stronger" on The Voice stage -- resembled Paula Abdul's freakish, bedazzled ensemble from her performance of "Vibeology" at the '91 Video Music Awards.

The Daily Star recently ran a ‘Golden Ticket’ promotion that saw lucky winners of the Golden Tickets being given an opportunity to audition to go into this year’s house, and one of the winners has vowed that she’ll have sex in the house.
Christina Chance – who’s already a favourite to go into the new house – added that she’ll “spank other contestants” in addition to a number of other raunchy promises.
Christina told the paper, “I get mad if I don’t have good sex. If I do it in the house they will have to blank it out.
“But if there’s a private room, then why not? I enjoy voyeurism. I’m a flirt, so I won’t mind a bit of fun. Otherwise I can do it on my own, 11 weeks is a long time.”
The article adds, “The mum-of-two, who moved to the...

We tug at some of those annoyingly slack plot lines that have left moviegoers tied up in knots and lost down plot holes
Nothing nags like a film that leaves its plot or characters dangling. Some unanswered questions (did Cobb's spinning top fall after Inception finished?) seem placed to give the audience something to mull over or argue about after the film has finished. Others (Beauty and the Beast's Chip is clearly under 10, and the curse has been on the castle for 10 years, so did Mrs Potts give birth to him whilst she was a teapot? And who is his father?) look more like goofs than deliberate head scratchers. Yet they raise interesting, and sometimes disturbing, questions.
Some loose threads are so neglectful they leave a lingering sense of injustice. Such is the case with Source Code, whose treatment of one of its central characters was so heinous it demanded...

So, just a heads up that AfterElton will have a very limited schedule today and tomorrow. You will get a Meme each day, though, but I'll be filling in for Ed Kennedy, so expect subliminal 80's references that will haunt your subconscious.
The reviews are in, and as of this writing Burlesque has a 32% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That's actually not as bad as I thought, and is certainly better than other holiday fare. Nutcraker 3D has a perfect 0% going, and if that holds, it'll join such illustrious company as Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 and Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Severs
Ecks Vs. Severs it's not, but the Burlesque reviews run the gamut from "The dialogue falls upon the ear like baseball bats," to "Approximately 10% of you are going to Love this movie." Roger Ebert gives it two stars, writing that Christina has "an unforced charm," and "Cher looks exactly as she always does.

Adam Lambert has revealed that he is a big admirer of pop mega star Christina Aguilera and revealed that he would love to work with her in the future.
Adam has already collaborated with Lady Gaga on his debut album ‘For Your Entertainment’ and we would have thought that was one pairing that was impossible to top. However when asked if he had anyone he was keen to work with in the future, the ‘Whataya Want From Me’ singer told Teen Today:
I would like to sing with Christina Aguilera.
I’ve been a fan of hers since I was a teenager and when she first came out, we were around the same age, I just…I think she’s incredible. There’s really no one who can match those vocals. I think it would be really fun to sing with her. She’s a powerhouse.
