Asligul Armagan is a writer, producer, and director based in New York. She has worked as an associate producer on Academy Award-winning director Bryan Fogel's documentaries "Icarus: The Aftermath," which premiered at the 2022 Telluride Film Festival, and "The Dissident," which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for Best Documentary at the 2021 BAFTA Awards. She continues to work with Fogel and is co-producing his current project about the fentanyl crisis in the US.
Her short film "Lyssa" (2022), which premiered at Dances with Films, won awards at several festivals, and "Spiral" (2020) was one of the winners in the Women in Film and IMDbPro Curbside Shorts film challenge. Armagan has produced a number of short films which are in post-production. She is also in post-production for her first feature-length documentary as a director.
Armagan has an extensive background in development, having held roles at MGM Studios, Working Title Films, Smokehouse Pictures, Weed Road Pictures, and Gunpowder & Sky. In 2018, she was selected for BAFTA Los Angeles's Newcomers Program and is currently a BAFTA member. Born and raised in Turkey, she holds a dual master's degree from USC and the London School of Economics, and a bachelor's degree from Durham University.
