Ryan Kaji is getting ready for his big-screen debut. The 11-year-old face of the Ryan’s World brand will star in Ryan’s World the Movie: Titan Universe Adventure, a collaboration between the Kaji family’s Sunlight Productions and their partners at media company pocket.watch.
The feature film will expand the Titan Universe that has popped around the Red Titan character. The Ryan’s World superhero has become a central focus of the brand as Ryan has aged. Some of the Red Titan’s first off-YouTube appearances came via shoes and parade floats, and he’s about to embark on his greatest adventure yet. The Titan Universe film will take moviegoers to a comic book world when it hits theaters in late 2024.
Ryan will star in the film alongside the rest of his family: father Shion, mother Loann, and little sisters Emma and Kate. All of the Kajis will portray fictionalized versions of themselves.

Thanksgiving may have started off as an opportunity to spend time with family, but it has evolved into something more. The fourth Thursday in November is the unofficial peak of the shopping season, and both platforms and creators will be ringing in the season with special deals and videos.

When pocket.watch partnered with magician Dan Rhodes earlier this month, it made its first deal with a short-form creator. It hasn’t taken long for the kid-friendly network to add more TikTok and YouTube Shorts stars to its roster. It has signed eight new channels, including short-form standouts Hungry Fam and Lively Lewis Show.
The new pocket.watch signees will push the studio past several significant milestones. It now has more than 70,000 videos and over 25,000 hours of content in its library. Pocket.watch has amassed those stats over a five-year period. The company, led by former Maker Studios and Nickelodeon execs, raised a pivotal Series A round in 2017.
The new signee that most significantly impacts pocket.watch’s viewership numbers is Hungry Fam. The vertical video hub, which chronicles the adventures of an Asian-American family, has delivered incredible traffic on YouTube Shorts. At the start of the year, Hungry Fam reached 47th place in our U.

Dan Rhodes has come a long way since he appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2019. Over the past three years, the 19-year-old magician has broken out on a pair of short-form hubs. He has 10 million followers on TikTok and 16 million subscribers on YouTube Shorts.
Now, Rhodes is striking a deal that will support him as he develops his brand through traditional and new media ventures. He has signed with pocket.watch, the digital studio that turns family-friendly channels into multiplatform franchises.
In a press release, pocket.watch said that Rhodes is the company’s “first major creator whose audience has been built on YouTube Shorts and TikTok.” The five-year-old firm works with some clients who have established dedicated channels for short-form content, but its typical partners are big names on the long-form version of YouTube. Ryan Kaji, Onyx Family, and Toys and Colors are three of the most prominent channels in the pocket.

When Britney Spears attorney Matthew Rosengart appears in Los Angeles probate court September 29 before Judge Brenda Penny and argues for his client’s release from a 13-year conservatorship overseen by her estranged father, the motion stands to correct a wrong that began long before #freebritney, or Chris Crocker’s plea 14 years ago to “Leave Britney alone!,” or even her 1993 debut on the Mickey Mouse Club.
The abuse of Spears’ conservatorship, which rendered her the legal equivalent of a child, also speaks to an abuse that threatens many child performers — kidfluencers, TikTok and reality stars, and anyone who lives in the 44 states that don’t embrace the Coogan Act. Child labor laws have not kept up with the entertainment landscape, and it’s the kids who stand to suffer from it
As a former child actor who later became a homeless teenager, I think about stage parents and our inadequate child labor laws a lot.

Everybody wants a piece of Ryan Kaji -- including, it turns out, Amazon Kids+, a child-focused subscription service comprising books, movies, TV shows, apps, and games for $3 per month. Amazon launched the service in 2012, but re-branded it from its former name, FreeTime Unlimited, in September.
Amazon has tapped Kaji to star in its first-ever, original long-form series for Kids+ dubbed Super Spy Ryan -- a half-hour hybrid live-action and animated series that premieres on Nov. 27 in the U.S., U.K., and Canada. It will arrive in Germany and Japan next month. Super Spy Ryan, which also marks the first time that Ryan has voiced-over animation, is produced by Sunlight Entertainment, the Kaji family’s own production company, and studio partner Pocket.watch. The animation was produced by Japanese studio Shin-Ei Animation.

After forging a vast media dynasty for boy-wonder Ryan Kaji, the kid-centric digital network Pocket.watch has its sights set on treading a similar path for Ukrainian-born and U.S.-residing YouTube phenom Diana in the Gen Alpha girls' market.
Six-year-old Diana’s YouTube presence is already unfathomable. She counts six Diamond Play Buttons across 14 channels that boast 143 million collective subscribers and roughly 5 billion monthly views. For the past two weeks, the flagship Kids Diana Show channel -- which has 61 million subscribers and has recently been nabbing 2.5 billion monthly views -- has remained the No. 1 most-viewed channel in the U.S. and the second most-viewed channel in the world -- second only to T-Series.
Accordingly, Pocket.watch is looking to build an off-YouTube empire with Diana at the helm, beginning this fall. The forthcoming entertainment brand called Love, Diana will include a three-tiered approach: consumer products, a mobile game, and a...

Pocket.watch, the digital kids’ content goliath best known for its work with YouTube superstar Ryan Kaji, is building on its relationship with Hulu.
Pocket.watch will be packaging programming from nine of its top kid-stars -- including JillianTubeHD, EvanTubeHD, Karina Garcia, Onyx Family, and KidCity -- into a new franchise called Smiles And Smarts. The collection of 100 short-form, learning-themed, kids entertainment videos -- which Pocket.watch says are designed to help parents entertain their homebound children amid the coronavirus pandemic -- is available on Hulu now.
Pocket.watch, which works with top kid-friendly YouTube stars, began repackaging its content for other platforms like Amazon and Hulu back in 2018, and then added a slew of new content to Hulu last October, for a total of 177 episodes on the platform. The addition of Smiles And Smarts means that Pocket.watch’s presence on Hulu has now tripled since 2018, where it currently counts over 250 total episodes.

Eight-year-old Ryan Kaji is doing his part to help educate fellow youngsters about the coronavirus crisis -- while also raising half a million dollars to support relief efforts.
In a new video on Kaji’s Ryan’s World YouTube channel (24.7 million subscribers), the online phenom and his parents interviewed Andy Slavitt, who served as the acting administrator for the Centers For Medicare & Medicaid Services (Cms) under President Barack Obama. Slavitt has been using his perch -- and now Ryan’s -- to encourage people to stay home, as well as to explain to kids why they can’t currently see their friends, go to school, or visit with their elderly relatives.
Other topics covered in the video include whether pets can catch coronavirus, and how to stop its spread. The video is also part of a recently-released YouTube playlist by Ryan's World containing activities that families can participate in together,...

Child YouTubers with gobstopping subscriber counts, burgeoning business empires, and multimillion-dollar incomes certainly isn’t a new phenomenon -- as one of the space’s progenitors, eight-year-old digital posterchild Ryan Kaji, has impressively showcased.
And while Kaji -- of Ryan's World fame -- may be familiar to many in the space, there's new kid on the block: six-year-old Nastya Radzinskaya, who’s YouTube following makes Kaji's look like ... well, child’s play. Case in point: On her flagship channel, Like Nastya, Radzinskaya just crossed 50 million subscribers on Sunday -- making her the first children’s channel in YouTube history to accomplish this feat. Radzinskaya, who was born in Krasnodar, Russia but moved to Boca Raton, Fl. last year with her mom and dad -- has also managed to break this record in rapid order, after the family launched their YouTube venture in 2016.

Pocket.watch, the Generation Alpha-focused digital media company that reps YouTube megastar Ryan Kaji, has just announced an all-new business unit: a full-service ad agency that will seek to help brands reach children.
The agency, dubbed Clock.Work, will execute targeted campaigns across YouTube, mobile gaming properties, Ott services, and more. The agency will handle campaigns from conception to distribution, and stresses that every campaign will be compliant with Coppa (which states that data cannot be collected from underage internet users) and delivered via brand-safe channels.
Pocket.Watch says it specifically coincided the launch of the agency with YouTube’s settlement with the FTC in January over Coppa violations. As a result of that $170 million settlement, YouTube had to institute sweeping changes to its platform in the realm of kids’ content, including removing targeted advertising on videos apparently intended for children -- as well as a litany of other features. We do science experiments, challenges like ‘The Floor Is Lava’, educational videos like ‘Why Do Floods Happen?’, music videos, skits, and lots more," Kaji says in an announcement video. Ryan ToysReview, arguably the biggest children's channel on all of YouTube, which has subsequently spawned a global multimedia empire, has become the subject of a complaint filed with the Federal Trade Commission, alleging that it has deceived children through sponsored videos that look and feel like organic content.
Ryan ToysReview is headlined by seven-year-old Ryan Kaji, whose kid-friendly charisma has garnered a staggering 21.4 million subscribers and 31.8 billion lifetime views. The filing, by watchdog group Truth In Advertising, was particularly timely -- submitted on the same day YouTube announced it had settled with the FTC for violating children's privacy regulations. Ryan ToysReview, the seven-year-old YouTube phenom with 20 million subscribers and an astonishing 30 billion lifetime views, is helping fast food chain Hardee’s get back into the children's meal business.
The partnership marks Hardee’s first-ever influencer partnership, and will call for kids’ meals that come complete with four exclusive toys from Ryan's product brand, Ryan’s World. Later this summer, other kids channels repped by Ryan's studio partner, Pocket.watch -- including HobbyKids TV via their newly-formed HobbyKids Aventures entertainment brand -- will also launch similar toys in Hardee’s and sister chain Carl's Jr. (Both Hardee's and Carl's Jr. are owned by parent company Cke Restaurants).
"Our consumers are digital-first," Hardee's director of brand marketing, Jenna Folk, told CNN. She also noted that Hardee’s stopped vending kids’ meals -- which it called Star Pals -- eight years ago, but the company has since noticed an increase in families eating at fast-food chains.

Nickelodeon is developing an animated series inspired by the viral children’s song “Baby Shark,” TheWrap has learned.
Nickelodeon has partnered with Pinkfong, the South Korean entertainment company whose YouTube video helped first kickstart the song’s recent popularity, to develop a new original preschool animated series based on the internet sensation.
Pinkfong’s recording of the classic camp tune exploded in popularity late last year, racking up more than 2.8 million views since its upload in 2016. The song’s viral success helped to propel it up the Billboard Hot 100 and inspire new versions from the likes of James Corden and Ellen DeGeneres.

Pocket.watch, the digital studio that works with major kid-focused creators like Ryan ToysReview (19.3 million subscribers on YouTube) and CaptainSparklez (10 million), has partnered with two new creators: Marlin Ramsey Chan, aka MarMar (3.3 million) and the Onyx Family (2.2 million).
The studio also announced an upcoming slate of programming featuring Chan and the Onyx Family, as well as three new shows starring current Pocket.watch partners HobbyKidsTV (3.4 million), JillianTube (1.4 million), and EvanTube (6.2 million).
Pocket.watch hopes these partnerships, like its deal with Ryan ToysReview, will result in boosting the YouTubers’ careers into new business categories, like traditional TV shows and merch. Nickelodeon, the Viacom-owned kids’ content brand that works with top YouTube stars like Ryan ToysReview and JoJo Siwa, has just acquired early childhoold learning platform Sparkler. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
As part of the purchase, Sparkler co-founder Kristen Kane has been named Evp of Noggin -- the preschooler-aimed subscription service launched by Nickelodeon in March 2015 that’s priced at $7.99 per month and currently counts 2.5 million subscribers. Noggin, which is ad-free, offers 1,500 episodes of full-length Nickelodeon shows, short-form videos, Spanish-language clips, music videos, and more.
Sparkler measures child development and delivers personalized content and coaching to parents. Its tech will be integrated into Noggin over the next year, Nickelodeon says, as overseen by Kane -- who will also drive strategy and development on the service going forward. She will be based in New York and report to Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins.

A Brazilian lawsuit filed against YouTube’s owner Google is raising questions about whether toy unboxing videos are manipulating kids — and whether similar suits could eventually be filed in the U.S., citing laws that prohibit aggressive marketing to children.
The lawsuit, filed in January by the public prosecutor’s office in São Paulo, Brazil, accuses YouTube of “engaging in abusive advertising practices toward children,” Vox reports. The suit hinges on prosecuters’ assertion that most videos in the popular genre, even if they’re not marked as ads, are still advertisements. In Brazil, it’s completely illegal to market anything to kids under 12.
For those not familiar with toy unboxings, it’s a booming subset of videos on YouTube where people — sometimes kids, sometimes adults — unbox and play with toys. It can be an enormously lucrative business for some creators, like seven-year-old Ryan ToysReview, who has 18 million subscribers, his own product brand,...
