A member of the American Federation of Musicians from 1919, he became
President of the Los Angeles Musicians Union; Member of California
State Assembly, 1936-1942; Presidential Elector for California, 1940, and
Member of California State Senate, 1942-1954. He was defeated in
Republican primary elections, 1954.
