Sani Sagala (born 24 August 1974) is a New Zealand-Samoan recording artist best known for his number-one single "We Gon Ride", which won him two New Zealand Tui Awards in 2005, for the Highest Selling Single and Best Music Video.
Sani was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and moved to Auckland when he was four. He is the middle child of five siblings and grew up in Papatoetoe. He attended Papatoetoe West Primary School, Kedgley Intermediate, and Aorere College.
Sani started directing in 2010 when a close friend asked if he would direct her first music video. Sani jumped at the opportunity and since then has produced over 60 Music Videos working with such artists as Pieter T, SpawnBreezie (US), Fiji (US), Ardijah, Smashproof (NZ), Sammielz (Aus), Lapi Mariner, Tenelle (US), and TJ Taotua as well as many others.
In 2014 Sani was commissioned to film for the well-known Hawaiian-based reggae group Kalohe Kai. He traveled with the band as they performed in Auckland and Tauranga for the very first One Love NZ Tour. The video can be found on YouTube: Kolohe Kai - One Love NZ Tour Part 1 & 2.
In 2018 Sani took part in the Loading Docs Short Film series, where he flew to Samoa with a small crew and directed a short film called "The Crossroads: Le Magafa" which is based on Samoan Hip-Hop recording artist Kas Futialo, aka Tha Feelstyle. The short premiered at The Hollywood Cinema in Avondale on the 24th of October 2018.
