New Delhi, July 16 (Ians) India pacer Jasprit Bumrah is close to regaining his full-fitness and is likely to make his highly-anticipated return to action next month during the tour of Ireland.
According to an Indian Express report, Bumrah, who underwent a back surgery in March and had resumed bowling last month after successfully undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, has been gradually increasing his workload.
The pacer is continuing his rehab programme under the watchful eyes of Nca chief Vvs Laxman and he is bowling full throttle at the nets, where he is bowling 8-10 overs.
While the selectors and the team management were looking to include Bumrah for the Asia Cup in September, the progression he has made in the last couple of weeks means he could travel to Ireland next month with a second-string India team. The decision on his travel would be taken in the coming days.

New Delhi, July 11 (Ians) July 5, 2023 was turning out to be a normal day in the life of Salam Bayash, head coach of the Legala Cricket Academy in Lingampalli, Hyderabad. After finishing his day’s work at the academy, Bayash was on his way home when suddenly his phone rang, prompting him to park his scooter on the side of the road.
It was a video call from his beloved student, left-handed batter Tilak Varma, who was in Bengaluru with the South Zone team for Duleep Trophy.
“When I connected with him on the call, he was full of happiness and said, ‘Sir, sir’. I asked him, ‘Is everything all right?’ He said, ‘Sir, I have got the call for the Indian team for the T20 matches against West Indies’,” recalls Bayash in a chat with Ians.
It is almost going to be a week since the news broke of Varma...
