Hollywoodnews.com: “Saturday Night Live” and “Bridesmaids” helped put Kristen Wiig on the map, but the gifted physical comedian got her start with the legendary Groundlings improv troupe, and this month, she’s returning “home” for an anniversary show.
“The Crazy Uncle Joe Show” is an original presentation created by Groundlings alum Holly Mandel that started small but quickly became one of the most popular weekly improv exercises at the L.A. group’s program.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the “Crazy Uncle Joe Show,” Mandel will be joined by Wiig and the current Groundlings Players for a special presentation on Wednesday, June 22.
How does it work? According to a release, the audience suggests three ideas, and the Groundlings Players proceed to weave stories. Throughout the show, the Groundlings are traveling back and forth through time, playing different characters in many different situations. They keep...
