- Purchased the Nine Network from Kerry Packer for over A$1 billion in 1987. Bond was forced to sell it back to Packer in 1990, due mostly to the 1987-89 financial crisis, for A$700 million. Packer's reported summation of the deal was one of his most famous: "You only get one Alan Bond in your lifetime, and I've had mine".
