Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-tx) was carjacked about a mile from the U.S. Capitol on Monday night.
Cuellar was parking his car outside of his apartment in the Navy Yard area of Southeast D.C when three armed individuals approached the congressman and stole his vehicle.
“As Congressman Cuellar was parking his car this evening, 3 armed assailants approached the Congressman and stole his vehicle,” his chief of staff said in a statement. “Thank you to Metro Pd and Capitol Police for their swift action and for recovering the Congressman’s vehicle.

Blake Masters, whom former President Donald Trump recently endorsed for Senate in Arizona, said during a podcast appearance earlier this year that “Black people, frankly” are responsible for America’s gun violence problem.
“We do have a gun violence problem in this country, and it’s gang violence,” Masters said on the “Jeff Oravits Show” on April 11, the Daily Beast reported on Sunday. “It’s people in Chicago, St. Louis shooting each other. Very often, you know, Black people, frankly. And the Democrats don’t want to do anything about that.

The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday debated recently introduced legislation called the Protecting Our Kids Act, which would prohibit people under 21 years old from buying semiautomatic guns and put restrictions on high capacity magazines, among other things.
Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.), who attended the hearing from his home by videoconference, used the opportunity to complain that at least three guns that he owns would be “banned” under the proposed law because lower capacity magazines don’t fit them. He decided to brandish them, too.

Following the unprecedented rioting by supporters of Donald Trump in the U.S. Capitol, a growing number of people, both Democrats and Republicans, are calling for the president to be removed from office.
According to White House correspondent April D. Ryan, the push is happening even at the leadership level, as she reported that “Congressional leaders are in the undisclosed location and focusing on the 25th Amendment to get @realDonaldTrump out of office!”
And Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel reported that Massachusetts Democrat Katherine Clark, assistant Speaker of the House and the fourth-ranking congressional Democrat, called Trump “a traitor to our country and our Constitution” who “must be removed from office and prevented from further endangering our country and our people.”
But they’re far from alone. Among notable examples from the Democratic side of the spectrum, Rep. Ilhan Omar says she is drafting new articles of impeachment. Her colleague in “the Squad,...

Updated, 12:41 Pm Pt: The CEOs of Google, Facebook, Apple and Amazon are testifying on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, in an unusual hearing that reflects the extent to which lawmakers have focused their scrutiny on tech platforms.
Hollywood’s lobby in D.C. is mainly watching from the sidelines, even as it has a vested interest in a number of issues, but this hearing’s focus is on antitrust as a House Judiciary subcommittee continues its investigation of competition among the major platforms.
While studios have been critical of Google in particular for not taking greater action to curb piracy, and lately have called for more “platform accountability,” taking a public stance on the issue of antitrust is a bit of a wild card that actually may end up backfiring.
Still, if the investigation leads to changes in antitrust laws, that will be of keen interest to traditional media players...
