Rauw Alejandro’s album is loading … and he has one final fiery collab with Sky Rompiendo before he clocks into a completely new era.
On Friday, Sky Rompiendo released his electronic track “Espectacular,” featuring Rauw. The song hears Rauw singing about a sexy pole dancer who “looks spectacular,” as the song title suggests. In an accompanying video, the duo is seen among a group of blurred-out dancers and bikini-clad women dancing around a glowing pole.
“Today I think one of my favorite songs this year comes out ,” Rauw Alejandro wrote on X/Twitter on Thursday.

Last year at the Grammys, Bad Bunny’s LP Un Verano Sin Ti made history as the first Spanish-language project nominated for Album of the Year, and his song “Moscow Mule” got a nod under Best Pop Solo Performance. These all seemed to be signs that the Recording Academy was broadening its view of Latin music and art and considering it for major categories, rather than siloing it to genre-specific categories.
But sadly, it’s back to bad habits this year. No Latin artists appear in the Big Four, despite...

Recently, the masterminds behind reggaeton's biggest stars and hitmakers have been coming into their own as artists. Last year, music producer Dímelo Flow released his debut album, "Always Dream." In June, producer Tainy also dropped his debut album, "Data." And now, Sky Rompiendo (real name Alejandro Ramírez Suárez) - one of the most in-demand Latin music producers of the past decade and the genius behind artists like J Balvin, Karol G, Maluma, and Feid - is shifting his focus from working behind the scenes to creating his own record. It's a move that has been long in the making, but for Rompiendo, the timing has been everything.
"I was inspired by all these producers like Pharrell, Timbaland, and Scott Storch - that whole movement of them eventually putting their faces up front and being more present in the scene versus not just always being behind the scenes," Rompiendo tells Popsugar.

Throughout history, many experts have studied the dichotomy that seems to exist between fear and love. It’s easy to think about that when examining Juanes’ career: First, there was the innocence and passion of the Colombian star’s Ekhymosis era and his first years as a solo artist. Then came outstanding success, a deep bond with an enormous audience, and–this is quite logical – intense pressures over time. P.A.R.C.E., for example, was a record landed far from the expectations of audiences and the media, who...

After Rosalía released her 2018 album El Mal Querer, a baroque masterwork anchored in solemn flamenco traditions and glowing pop sounds, the Spanish artist’s world cracked wide open, and everything seemed to rush at her at once. There was endless praise: She was a creative genius. She was a hero of the avant-garde. She’d saved flamenco. Waves of criticism came with equal force: She wasn’t doing authentic flamenco. She wasn’t original. She was too commercial. Rosalía kept morphing in the spotlight, shapeshifting through singles, pulling from genres like reggaeton and hip-hop.

On Feid’s recent single “Fumeteo,” the Colombian singer demonstrated his knack for polished, radio-ready reggaeton — the track was succinct, percussive, and easily chantable.
Feid draws from this well again on “El Padrino,” a cut from his new album Inter Shibuya – La Mafia. This one is more leisurely, opening with more than 50 seconds of Feid singing accompanied only by plaintive acoustic guitar. His voice is very closely mic’d, so the sound of each gulp of oxygen surges through the track — “Teníamo’ ganas de vernos, un afán de conocernos,” sharp...

J Balvin dropped his latest Colores visual, “Gris,” on Wednesday, directed by Colin Tilley. The clip sees J Balvin dealing with heartache in some very surreal scenarios: floods, fires, scorpion infestations, and a storm featuring a giant flying whale. The more negative thoughts he has, the more real-world disasters they bring.
All of it, of course, is done in grayscale to match the song’s title. It is the fifth Tilley-directed video for Colores following “Rojo,” “Morado,” “Blanco” and “Amarillo.” Colores, J Balvin’s fourth album, is the follow-up to his 2018 full-length Vibras,...

It’s safe to say that J Balvin leads one charmed life. The Medellín-born artist entered 2020 as a second-time Grammy nominee for 2019’s Oasis, his joint album with Puerto Rican comrade Bad Bunny. In English, Spanish, or any other language you can throw at him, Colombian superstar J Balvin has a sixth sense for a smash hit. Between 2016’s Energía and 2018’s Vibras, the singer-songwriter established himself as the globe-trotting James Bond of reggaeton with chart-toppers like “Ginza” and “Mi Gente.” He then upped his game as a vocalist opposite Bad Bunny in 2019’s Oasis. But on Balvin’s fourth studio album, Colores, Balvin seems more dedicated to fine-tuning his signature sound than to crafting the Next Big Hit.

After his Black Eyed Peas-assisted hit “Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life),” was crowned the Number One Latin song by the end of 2019, J Balvin aims to continue his winning streak. This Thursday, he released a brand new track, titled “Morado,” his first single of 2020.
“Morado,” which means “purple” in Spanish, is the second chapter of Balvin’s “Colores” single series. The song follows “Blanco,” his single released last fall. Produced by his right-hand man Sky Rompiendo, “Morado” is a work of gothic reggaeton, bound by a creeping synth and a creepier premise.

In one of the finest examples of cross-cultural solidarity — or perhaps just genuine friendship — Colombian J Balvin and Puerto Rican Bad Bunny have finally dropped their long-awaited LP, Oasis. A playful take on their beloved art form of reggaeton, Oasis’ lead single, “Qué Pretendes,” raises the bar for 2019 summer jams.
In what translates to “What Do You Want?” in English, “Qué Pretendes” is a sharp-shooting kiss-off to an ex who refuses to quit a relationship. “You know very well/How to wrap me up,” sings Balvin coyly, “But this time/It’s too late now.
