Daniel Kemp(VII)
- Producer
Exec producer by day, screenwriter by night, renegade the rest of the time. Dan has written 6 feature screenplays and 2 series pilots, mostly character based dark comedies / dramas, with action, family adventure and animation in the mix. His influences include the Coen Brothers, Taika Waititi, Quentin Tarantino, Martin McDonagh, Wes Anderson, Lawrence Kasdan, Steven de Souza... & David Bowie.
He loves stories with charismatic characters told in real world settings, & serious drama or action coupled with well timed comic relief - 'comedy realism' is a tone that features in much of his work. He's had great feedback on his projects from execs at Searchlight Pictures, Dreamworks, Channel 4, Warner Bros & more. Their encouragement has given him belief in his storytelling abilities and a determination to see his ideas brought to life on the big (or small screen). He recently reached the quarter-finals of the Academy Nicholl Fellowships with his family adventure screenplay 'Rainbow Girl and the Mud Boy'.
Dan is an executive producer at Make Films, a production company specialising in films, documentaries, music videos and ads. He has written a dramatised adaptation of their award winning feature documentary Mission To Lars. Previously he worked at Screenskills, a British Film Institute (BFI) backed organisation developing, acquiring, commissioning & producing a range of film projects... And further back was at global youth media disrupter VICE. Over the course of his career he's had the pleasure of working on movie marketing campaigns for Warner Bros, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, Laika Studios, Hanway Films and more.
