There are always some mangas and anime that help pave the way for other artists; Eiichiro Oda and Jujutsu Kaisen writer Gege Akutami understand that very well. On one hand, most of the big works have a touch of Dragon Ball in them, with Akira Toriyama having a hand in inspiring these artists. For Akutami though, the credit goes to Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach.

The anime fans were eagerly waiting for the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards result. Anime like Jujutsju Kaisen, Attack on Titan, Oshi no Ko, etc., dominated the award ceremony with multiple award wins. Jujutsu Kaisen won the most, with eleven awards. Chainsaw Man season one had a few nominations, but it could not perform as the fans had hoped. Denji and Pochita’s friendship was not strong enough.
But there was a certain category that the fans had hoped for a different result. During the award ceremony, Jujutsu Kaisen won the Best Opening Sequence award. Even though fans voted it to be the best, many believe that it would have been given to Chainsaw Man. Chainsaw Man’s opening theme broke a record that even One Piece failed to achieve.
Chainsaw Man’s Opening Theme is Pure Gold Chainsaw Man
Chainsaw Man season one had mixed reviews, but the opening theme was liked by all.

After Makima’s death, Chainsaw Man manga went on a hiatus. But later returned with a second part. The fans were excited to see how Denji’s life progressed. He was shown to live with the Control Devil’s reincarnation, Nayuta. He took care of her and fulfilled all her needs. The fans were surprised to see that he had left his Devil Hunting days before.
But there was no peace for him since the War Devil was looking for him, the Chainsaw Devil. Since then, the manga has been going through an interesting phase. The latest Chainsaw Man chapter featured Denji lying on a hospital bed in a horrible state. Even though he wanted to get out, he could not due to the authorities. The chapter also teased the return of an old character that the fans had missed.

One of the greatest things about anime is that you really can’t judge a book by its cover. For example, you can have a series as wholesome as Fruits Basket be deeply buried in family trauma while a series as delightfully chaotic as Chainsaw Man can make you appreciate the self-care that comes with finally having a second to wash your face, brush your teeth, make a cup of coffee, read the paper and do some cleaning. That said, the Chainsaw Man anime is wild! As we mentioned many times before, the shonen anime industry, after some years of producing many titles that just seemed to copy “One Piece”, “Bleach” and “Naruto”, moved towards other directions in order to reinvigorate the category. These elements ranged from parody of the cliches of the genre, to sociopolitical comments and many more, that actually allowed the titles of the category to be enjoyable by a more mature audience. The creators of “Chainsaw Man” took another direction by presenting a title that is definitely not for children due to intensely gory violence, sexual connotations, and rather intricate case and characterization, not to mention a main character who is unlike anything we have seen in the past.

In the age of streaming and instant gratification, most viewers use the "skip credits" function available on most streaming platforms more effortlessly than they should. With this ability also comes creatives who find new and interesting ways to keep viewers watching until the last second of the show is over. Some series have found ways to make credits engaging, whether it's the opening or ending. There are shows like "Peacemaker," with its hilarious opening dance number to the comedic tags at the end of every credits sequence, and "The Sandman," which featured end credits displaying unique art to be admired by viewers. Attempts to avoid credits being skipped has bred some exciting innovation.
Then there's the anime genre, which uses openings and endings in unique ways that are almost impossible to skip. "Chainsaw Man" is a notable exception that came out this past fall anime season, as it took its credits to a new level.

New anime hits emerge every year, but staggering levels of love have surrounded Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man. The anime’s inaugural season has already become one of Crunchyroll’s biggest 2022 additions. Audiences have been quick to commend the anime’s ultra-violent atmosphere as it chronicles Denji’s journey as the blade-wielding monster known as Chainsaw Man. However, beneath the grisly gore and heightened aesthetics, there’s a real heart and humanity to Chainsaw Man’s characters and their world.
Chainsaw Man’s Denji is a powerful protagonist who takes down incredible Devils. He’s also a dejected, debt-stricken loner who views every free day as a blessing. Simple pleasures like loose change for a can of soda feel like miracles to Denji, and Chainsaw Man truly celebrates the beauty of the little joys that make life worth living, albeit juxtaposed...

There it is. The moment it hits the fan and "Chainsaw Man" descends into madness. Last week saw the end of the prologue, as we now know all the major players and their deal, have a grasp of the stakes, the main conflict and villain, and our hero's goals.

If you regularly follow anime at all, you've almost certainly seen something about "Chainsaw Man." Whether it's the 18 million copies of the manga in circulation, cosplayers in simple black suits, or viral art of cute chainsaw dogs, the series has been a runaway train of popularity since it debuted in December 2018.
"Chainsaw Man" follows Denji, a young man saddled with debt whose only friend is a tiny chainsaw-faced devil named Pochita. When Denji is marked more profitable dead than alive by his debtors, Pochita willingly becomes his new heart, and Denji is reborn as the human-devil hybrid Chainsaw Man. That makes him a valuable asset to the Public Safety Devil Hunters, who give Denji a choice: join them and help keep the populace safe from devils or be put down like one.
Now that the anime is finally here, new audiences are getting a chance to find out what all the hype's about.

"Chainsaw Man" took the world by storm long before it received its anime adaptation from the talented Studio Mappa. The manga, created by mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto and released in the pages of "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2018-2020, is often praised for its hyper-violent action and surprisingly hefty (and sometimes existential) story. In a world where "devils" are born as real-world manifestations of human fears, "Chainsaw Man" centers around Denji, a young man in poverty looking to get out of debt and live the good life by being a devil hunter. It isn't until he's on the brink of death that his partner and pet Pochita (the Chainsaw Devil) make a contract with him, giving Denji the powers of Chainsaw Man.
When it came to the anime adaptation, there were lofty expectations not just for the animation of "Chainsaw Man," but also for the voice cast that would bring the characters to life.

Life is full of disappointments. Professional, personal, economic, big and small, in your youth and in your adulthood, in love and in being single. But in "Chainsaw Man," Denji is a character who hasn't experienced disappointment, not really. After all, he hasn't even come close to achieving his dreams, until now. Of course, by this point, he's accomplished everything he's ever dreamed of, from eating good food to sleeping in a real bed, to his ultimate goal of touching boobs. Unfortunately for Denji, he's finding out life is full of disappointments.
Picking up right after the cliffhanger of last week, "Chainsaw Man" actually goes ahead and shows Denji fondling Power's chest in rather detailed and fluid animation. And then she reveals she padded her bra, which sends Denji stumbling as his dreams shatter, and the animation becomes uglier, less heightened and closer to reality, with each subtle muscle movement interminably long and unpleasing.

There's three key elements to the winning formula of "Chainsaw Man," all perfectly balanced things that so neither go overboard — 2000s sex comedy humor, extreme violence, and a poignant and bleak world with gravitas. We've seen the first episode dive into the latter two, introducing us to a dark and violent world; the second episode leaned into the first, showing how immature its protagonist is. Now, the third episode mixes the show's signature horny humor with extreme violence for a funny, gnarly, thrilling episode that still finds time to touch on the bleak reality of its world — and make lots of boob jokes.

The fall 2022 anime season is jam-packed with anticipated shows, from returning franchises with surprising new takes, to new seasons of beloved shows and more. However, here is arguably no bigger or more anticipated premiere than "Chainsaw Man."

This Chainsaw Man review contains spoilers.
Chainsaw Man Episode 1
Every year it seems like anime gets weirder, wilder, and more creative. There’s a natural tendency to keep moving forward that continues to push the medium to extreme places. This excess can function at the series’ surface level, but it’s also led to a trend where stylized expressions of magic, energy, or even violence can become powerful metaphors for the internal problems that consume us all. A lot of anime have pushed this idea to the extreme, but few are more ridiculous than Chainsaw Man, an anime where a mild-mannered teen named Denji transforms into a chainsaw-limbed God of destruction. In Chainsaw Man, this weapon’s engine revs loudly and body parts and viscera fly with reckless abandon, but the noise of this spectacle doesn’t drown out the heart and soul of the characters underneath.

One of the most anticipated anime series of the year is finally here. Acclaimed animation studio Mappa adapts Tatsuki Fujimoto‘s massively popular series, bringing its quirky blend of humor and ultra-violence to the small screen. If the premiere episode is any indicator, expect a wild and extremely gory road ahead for the inaugural season of Chainsaw Man.
Denji (Kikunosuke Toya) isn’t your average teen. Not only has his father’s debt left him in an impoverished state, where he’s selling his body parts to pay it off, but he’s also made a pact with an adorable chainsaw devil, Pochita (Shiori Izawa). When not selling off his bits and possessions to survive, Denji earns cash selling the corpses of other devils. When Denji gets betrayed and left for dead, he gets a second chance when he’s revived as “Chainsaw Man” – a man with a devil’s heart.

Sharpen your teeth, because the highly-anticipated anime adaptation of "Chainsaw Man," Tatsuki Fujimoto's award-winning and extremely popular manga series of the same name is arriving on Crunchyroll next month. Originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump, the "Chainsaw Man" anime is directed by Ryū Nakayama, and tells a bleak and nihilistic story about Denji, a teenage boy living with Pochita, a painfully adorable dog err ... chainsaw devil as the two harvest devil corpses to repay the debt of his father. After Denji is betrayed and killed he makes a contract with Pochita to be revived as a "Chainsaw Man," which gives him the ability to spawn chainsaws out of his body, including a horrifying metal head with a chainsaw on top and sharp teeth to help him gnash demons.
