Yahssir M. is a multiple award winning film-maker and the founder/CEO of Millenia Motion Pictures Pte Ltd - Asia's entertaining, soulful and trailblazing media production house. For over 15 years, Yahssir through his short films, telemovies and dramas has been constantly telling stories from his heart. His protagonists are not superheroes but ordinary people who do extraordinary things. This can be seen from his narratives which highlight the human condition, including the social issues faced by the common man in Singapore. His ability to capture the essence of everyday living has been recognised worldwide by winning entries at the Asian Television Awards and New York Festival World's Best TV & Films.
SHORT FILMS
At the age of 19, Yahssir decided that film-making was his passion and he graduated with a Diploma in Interactive Media Design from Temasek Polytechnic. Since the beginning, Yahssir has always displayed a strong passion not only for film-making but also for his language - Tamil. His short-film, "CanHope", in Tamil won the first prize in the 2010 OKTO's Project PDA which made him the first Indian from Singapore to do a stint in Hollywood. Winning awards for his short films is nothing new for Yahssir, having won four awards for his entry, "Checkmate" in the Panasonic Digital Fiesta 2010.
TELEMOVIES
Yahssir has also won awards including finalist winner for Ninaivugal at New York Festival World's Best TV & Films Festivals. Yahssir believes that, "the Indian community in Singapore has got its own diasporic stories and that it is our duty to highlight these stories through the media". Yet again, Yahssir captures the trials & tribulations of ordinary Singaporeans in his telemovies providing a realistic appreciation of the Singaporean society. One can never fail to see the heart in his art. Furthermore, his telemovies have also highlighted heart wrenching stories involving patients with cancer and dementia. His telemovie, "Ninaivirukum Varai" was screened on World Azheimer's Day in Singapore in 2018 and about to be screened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for World Azheimer's Day 2019.
