Alfred Hartenbach
1963 Abitur. 1963 to 1965 military service (reserve officer). 1965 to 1966 studied Protestant theology in Bethel, from 1966 studied law and political science at Philipps University in Marburg. 1971 first state law examination, then preparatory service in the area of the Hessian Ministry of Justice and second state law examination in November 1973.
Since January 1974 public prosecutor in Kassel with focus on organized and white-collar crime, tax and insolvency proceedings, since January 1986 judge and from October 1986 director of the Hofgeismar District Court in North Hesse. From 1991 to 1993 additionally Director of the District Court of Nordhausen (Thuringia).
Member of several associations. Member of the board (honorary) of LFK Philippstiftung e. V. Immenhausen.
Joined the SPD in 1968; from 1972 to 1995 served on the executive boards of local associations, working groups and the SGK Hessen; from 1994 to 2002 member of the party council. 1977 to 1991 city councilor, then until 1995 honorary member of the municipal council with responsibility for youth, social affairs and senior citizens.
Member of the Bundestag since 1994; 1998 to 2002 legal policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group; since October 2002 Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Justice.
