- Producer
A restless journalist and a passionate documentary filmmaker from Brazil, Joy Ernanny has been producing award-winning TV documentaries and programs about immigration, human rights and social development for the past ten years. Having spent the last decade between New York and her native Rio de Janeiro, she believes in the power of stories that resonate globally and transcend territorial boundaries.
After majoring in journalism and politics from New York University, Joy moved back to Rio de Janeiro to produce TV news programs for GloboNews, the most-watched 24h news channel in Brazil. At GloboNews her team was twice nominated for International Emmy Awards for their original documentary work. First with "Syria on the Run" (2016) and then with "Allies" (2019). With a growing interest for documentary film, Joy got a scholarship from The New School and moved back to New York to get a graduate certificate in Documentary Studies. During her time at The New School, she directed her first short film, "Unveil" (2018), about the first beauty-salon for Muslim women in New York City. The documentary was selected for the Official Selection at the following festivals: World of Women Film Fair (Dubai, UAE), Mecal International Short and Animation Film Festival (Barcelona, Spain), The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival (New York, USA), Brazil International Film Festival (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Arab World Cinema Showcase (São Paulo, Brazil) and Arab Film Festival (Stuttgart, Germany). At the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival, Joy Ernanny was awarded with "Outstanding Short Doc".
In 2021 Joy Ernanny joined Amazon Studios as Unscripted Creative Coordinator, developing local original documentaries, reality-shows and entertainment formats in Brazil.
