Lieutenant-Colonel Steven Cole occupies a unique spot at the intersection of two major American institutions: the military and the movies. The 42-year-old career soldier is the deputy director of the Us Army film and television liaison office in Los Angeles. Six years ago when producer Stephanie Drachkovitch began pitching the idea for a show that followed the lives of real-life soldiers' wives, the U.S. Army was understandably wary. "The feeling was the families have enough stress," says Lt. Col. Steven Cole, an Army public affairs liaison based in Los Angeles. "There was a general reluctance to have our Army families be the object of entertainment."
But Drachkovitch didn't give up, and last spring, the Army decided the timing was right. "It struck me that the stories of the families were just so invisible during this war," she says. Amy Corrigan became the third Young Apprentice candidate to be fired by Lord Alan Sugar after a failed rare items task. The 17-year-old media and business student was brought into the board room along with David Odhiambo by Platinum team leader Steven Cole. Both teams were tasked to spend the least amount of money possible collecting some rare items for an opera company. Platinum and Odyssey both spent over £700 on items, but with fines and the price of the items they didn't buy both amounted to over £2,000. Odyssey narrowly won the task, with Lord Sugar telling team leader Andrew Tindall: "I would like to say well done, but it's a bit of a shame you had £797 of expenditure and £1,236 worth of fines."
