Summit Entertainment has announced that they, along with Participant Media and in association with Imagenation Abu Dhabi, have acquired the film rights to the New York Times article “Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hour.”
The article — published last December and written by David Barstow, David Rohde, and Stephanie Paul — chronicles the hours leading up to the events of April 20, 2010, when the oil rig tragedy resulted in the deaths of 11 people, injuring 16 more, and became the worst oil spill in U.S. history.
