Ankit Singha is an Indian film director and screenwriter whose decade-long journey in independent cinema began in the small town of Malda. Moving to Calcutta at a young age, he found inspiration in the absurdity of urban life, which shaped his approach to films.
At a fairly young age in 2010, Singha made his first short film "Ahoban" with a simple point-and-shoot camera mounted on a flower stand, setting the tone for his future works. He believes in the power of visual storytelling and prefers to let the camera speak rather than following a literary script.
His films, often short narratives and documentaries, explore themes close to his heart and have been recognized both in India and internationally. Ankit Singha sees filmmaking as a personal expression and a form of self-exploration as a human being. He remains fascinated by the endless possibilities of this relatively young medium, constantly seeking new ways to push boundaries and challenge conventions. Ankit Singha continues to create films that are both thought-provoking and visually stunning, driven by his love for the art of picture-making.
