Mateen Missaghi is a filmmaker from Vaughan, Ontario. His career began at sixteen, when discovered by a talent manager in Toronto. In his final year of high school, Mateen won the Best Cinematography award at TIFF's Next Wave Showcase for his debut short film "Chicago Undercover". This recognition earned his admission to York University's Film Production program, where he cultivated his passion for documentary and cinematography, amassing DOP credits on six fiction films and seven documentaries. In his final year at York, he took part on over 30 productions as various roles, both in and out of school, prior to graduating. Mateen has served as a cinematographer on two feature-length documentaries, two doc-series, and worked as a digital producer for the travel doc show, "How I Got Here," shot in five countries over the summer of 2023. Within in the film industry, he also works as a camera assistant, editor, production assistant, grip, and sound recordist.
