John McNabb Bratton

John Bratton is a composer, arranger, and conductor in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Prior to starting his composing career, John was the Associate Director of Bands at Campbell High School in Cobb County, Georgia. Through his experience as a teacher, he was inspired to begin composing and arranging music for bands, orchestras as well as film.
John draws on his performing, teaching, as well as life experiences for every composition or arrangement he writes. Some of these experiences include playing trombone with the JSU Marching Southerners, JSU Hardcorps, JSU Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds. While at JSU, he studied trombone under Dr. James Roberts and Dr. David Lambert. He studied theory with Dr. James Woodward as well as Dr. Douglas Gordon. He also studied conducting with Dr. Kenneth G. Bodiford. Outside of the college bands, John was also a member of the 2008 Racine Scouts AAA (now open class) Drum and Bugle Corps playing baritone. After 2008, John went on to march with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps for four years 2009, 2010, 2011 as well as their world championship season in 2013.
John is an alumnus of the Mu Iota chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. He has also been a member of the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) as well as the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).
