On May 22nd, Dark Horse Comics will release "a classic slasher/psychotropic folk horror story to sink your teeth into" in The Butcher’s Boy. This new horror comic book series' creative team includes a story from Landry Q. Walker (The Last Siege) and Pannel Vaughn, art and cover art from Justin Greenwood (The Last Siege), interior and cover art colors from Brad Simpson (All Eight Eyes), and letters by Pat Brosseau (Hellboy). In our latest Q&a, we caught up with Landry Q. Walker and Justin Greenwood to learn more about the origins of this comic book series and their creative process:
How did The Butcher’s Boy become the next project that the two of you would collaborate on?
Landry: I have a massive pile of stories that are always in some stage of development. This one clicked, and I saw Justin’s art in my head with it.

Dynamite Entertainment has released a ton of Army of Darkness comic books over the years, but with the upcoming series Army of Darkess: Forever they’re going back to the source: this comic book is a direct sequel to director Sam Raimi’s 1993 film (watch it Here)! And this sequel comes with a bonus in that it continues on from both endings of the film.
While the theatrical cut of Army of Darkness found our time traveling hero Ash back in his own time, working at S-Mart (and fighting a Deadite in the aisles), the director’s cut of the film ends with Ash being dropped into a post-apocalyptic future.
Here’s the information on Army of Darkness: Forever #1: The story picks up immediately after the events of the beloved film, jumping between three fun timelines. The Techno Army of Darkness of 2093, the S-Mart aisles of 1993, and the middle ages chaos of Castle Kandar,...

ABC has canceled “Stumptown” despite previously renewing the show for a second season.
According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, due to timing and scheduling needs for the current season that have been impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, ABC opted not to move forward with the second season as planned. Studio ABC Signature will be shopping the series to other outlets.
Based on the graphic novel series of the same name, “Stumptown” starred Cobie Smulders as Dex Parios – a strong, assertive and sharp-witted veteran with a complicated love life, gambling debt and a brother to take care of in Portland, Oregon.
The series also starred Jake Johnson as Grey McConnell, Tantoo Cardinal as Sue Lynn Blackbird, Cole Sibus as Ansel Parios, Adrian Martinez as Tookie with Camryn Manheim as Lieutenant Cosgrove, and Michael Ealy as Detective Miles Hoffman.

Exclusive Updated: This will come as a shocker to Stumptown fans. The breakout series starring Cobie Smulders, which was renewed for a second season in May, will not be going forward with the Season 2 order. The studio behind the show, ABC Signature, plans to shop it and find a new home for it, I hear.
Stumptown was part of the fall 2020 ABC schedule announced in June, slated to return to the Wednesday 10 Pm slot it occupied last season. According to sources, a timing issue related to the production start delay made it impossible for the show to be ready for a fall launch when the network had scheduling needs for the 2020-21 season. As a result, the network made a decision to not move forward with the previously commissioned new season.

Midnight, Texas creator Monica Owusu-Breen has joined ABC’s Stumptown as executive producer for the second season. The drama series, inspired by Greg Rucka’s Stumptown graphic novel series, hails from Jason Richman, Ruben Fleischer and ABC Studios.
The announcement comes ahead of Stumptown’s Comic-Con@Home panel at 4 p.m. Pt, featuring stars Cobie Smulders, Jake Johnson and Michael Ealy and EPs Owusu-Breen, Richman, Fleischer, David Bernad and Rucka. The series was renewed for Season 2 in May.
Written by Richman, Stumptown follows Dex Parios (Smulders), a strong, assertive and sharp-witted veteran with a complicated love life, gambling debt and a brother to take care of in Portland, Oregon. Her military intelligence skills make her a great Pi, but her unapologetic style puts her in the firing line of hardcore criminals and not quite in alliance with the police.

Former Chicago Pd showrunner Matt Olmstead has been named co-showrunner of ABC’s new drama series Stumptown, which just received a back order from ABC.
Under his overall deal at ABC Studios, which is behind Stumptown, Olmstead had originally joined Stumptown, headlined by Cobie Smulders, as consulting producer at the start. He has since been upped to executive producer and co-showrunner alongside developer Jason Richman.
Olmstead co-created Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med, and was the showrunner on Chicago Pd. He began his writing career on NYPD Blue, where he rose to executive producer. He also ran Prison Break from its inception and also co-created/exec produced Breakout Kings for A&e.
In addition to Richman, Olmstead joins executive producers Ruben Fleischer and David Bernad, Greg Rucka (author of the “Stumptown” graphic novel series), Matthew Southworth and Justin Greenwood (illustrators of the “Stumptown” graphic novel series).

ABC has given full season orders to freshman shows “Stumptown” and “Mixed-ish” as well as sophomore series “The Rookie.”
Both “Stumptown” and “Mixed-ish” are produced solely by ABC Studios, while “The Rookie” is a co-production between ABC Studios and eOne.
This marks the first full season pick ups for any of ABC’s fall shows thus far. “Mixed-ish” has received an order for nine more episodes, while “The Rookie” has been picked up for an additional seven. The final episode count for “Stumptown” has not yet been determined.
“This fall, ‘Stumptown’ has delivered a rich, inventive and fun thrill ride each week with a stellar cast that features one of the most fearless female characters at the center; ‘mixed-ish’ has established itself as one of the sharpest, funniest and most original new comedies of the season; and ‘The Rookie’ has continued to bring compelling storytelling and powerful performances to its passionate and loyal fan base,...

ABC, the last network to make pickup decisions on its new fall series, has given back orders to comedy Mixed-ish and drama Stumptown. Additionally, the network has ordered additional episodes of sophomore drama The Rookie, which had a 13-episode pickup.
I hear the Black-ish prequel has received an order for nine additional episodes for a full-season 22-episode run. Things are still in flux for dramas Stumptown starring Cobie Smulders and The Rookie starring Nathan Fillion. They are expected to produce at least five additional episodes each for a total of 18, and could deliver 1-2 extra episodes beyond that. Like it is the case with a number of stars these days, I hear Smulders’ deal caps the Stumptown seasons at 18 episodes, though ABC brass would like to get more. I hear The Rookie‘s order could get up to 20 episodes, matching Season 1.
The third new ABC fall series, drama Emergence, was designed for 13-episode season arcs,...

ABC has given full-season pickups to its new fall comedies “Mixed-ish” and “Stumptown,” as well as the sophomore drama “The Rookie,” the network announced on Monday.
That marks full-season orders for two of the three new shows that ABC debuted this fall, leaving only the sci-fi thriller “Emergence” awaiting word of its fate from the network. Meanwhile, “The Rookie,” which was renewed for a 13-episode second season back in May, now has been picked up for a full season.
