The 17th season of “America’s Got Talent” is in full swing, with five audition episodes having aired since May 31. Instead of moving right on to the sixth set of hopefuls, the AGT team paused on July 5 to give viewers a look back at some of the best tryouts from the last six years. During the first ever Golden Buzzer special, entitled “Simon’s Favorite Golden Buzzers,” judge Simon Cowell sat down with host Terry Crews to present a two-hour countdown of his personal picks for the 15 greatest moments involving the coveted honor.
The Golden Buzzer was first incorporated into AGT’s ninth season, which aired in 2014. The show’s current format allows it to be used only five times per season (once by the host and once each by the four judges) to lock in quarterfinal placements for particularly outstanding auditioners. 12 of the 59 acts who have earned the honor have...

“America’s Got Talent” crowned its 15th champion on Wednesday night after what was one of reality TV’s most unconventional seasons. Due to the global pandemic, the show adapted to incorporate video submission auditions, a modified Judge Cuts round then quarter- and semi-final rounds that included live performances from the Universal Studios lot as well as some pre-recorded or via satellite from different parts of the world. Simon Cowell was absent from the second half of the season while recovering from surgery, leaving Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and new judge Sofia Vergara alone on the panel.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions managed to save some of its biggest surprises for Monday’s grand finale — and we’re not just talking about that tongue-wagging performance from Kiss.
In true Agt fashion, the finale was a gloriously overdramatic hodgepodge of behind-the-scenes shenanigans and on-stage collaborations. Highlights included Season 5 superstar Lindsey Stirling helping Silhouettes tell another sad story about a man going off to war, V.Unbeatable teaming up with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, and sand artist Kseniya Simonova doing her thing to the music of Angelina Jordan and Tyler Butler-Figuroa.

After just seven episodes, the “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” ends with the results finale on February 17 that will see the season 2 winner crowned. Over the course of five audition episodes, 40 acts from around the world performed, vying for one of 10 places in the final, which aired on Feb. 10.
There were three ways to make the Top 10: be the Golden Buzzer pick of one of the four judges; win the most votes in each episode from the superfans and studio audiences at the tapings last fall; or be saved by the judges.
Three of the judges were gave their Golden Buzzers to dance groups: Simon Cowell picked Boogie Storm, Alesha Dixon went with Silhouettes and Howie Mandel was bowled over by V.Unbeatable. The fourth, Heidi Klum, singled out singer Angelina Jordan. Unlike season 1, host Terry Crews was denied a chance to put an act straight through to the final.

The Top 10 acts of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” Season 2 performed Monday night for their final chance of impressing the superfan voters. One such act, Alexa Lauenburger, gave it her all with her cute troupe of talented dogs doing the conga, but Simon Cowell simply wasn’t impressed. “I think you’ve just blown your chance of winning the show,” he hissed. Alexa, age 11, is not used to hearing negative criticism as she previously won “Germany’s Got Talent” Season 11. However, she took Simon’s pooh-poohing of her act like a champ, even as the studio audience booed the notoriously mean judge. Read the judges’ complete comments below.

Monday night the 10 finalists of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” season 2 performed their final routines for the votes of the “Agt” Superfans. The finalists showed a wide range of talents this year, including three acrobatic acts: American trapeze artists Duo Transcend and Sandou Trio Russian Bar, as well as India’s acrobatic dance group V.Unbeatable who are in turn joined by two other dance groups: Britain’s Boogie Storm and America’s Silhouettes.
Then there’s Germany’s Alexa Lauenberg and her multi-talented dogs whose act is very different from the musical-based talents of singers Angelina Jordan and Marcelito Pomoy as well as violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa. The “Agt: The Champions” season 2 finale runs for two hours starting at 8 p.m. Et/Pt next Monday, February 17. While 40 acts started off this competition, it has now come down to just 10 finalists. Four of these were singled out by the judges for the Golden Buzzers while six of them survived last week’s semi-final.
As with last year, this second season of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” was taped. That includes this finale, which means that viewers won’t get to vote for the season 2 winner. That decision was left to the superfans, who were drawn from “Agt” viewers in all 50 states. But unlike last year, they weren’t the only ones who chose the finalists and eventual winner. The regular studio audiences got to chime in as well.

The superfans on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” are a controversial bunch, and for good reason. At-home viewers are frustrated, maybe even a little jealous, that these delegates from all 50 states get to call the shots instead of them. (See how the voting process works.) Love ’em or hate ’em, the superfans are here to stay on “The Champions” as we approach the February 10 finale. But are they biased toward homegrown American acts, since they’re obviously already familiar with their stories? Or do the superfans deserve credit for voting for performers from all around the world? Let’s investigate.

For his semi-final performance on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions,” Tyler Butler-Figueroa decided to show us a different side of his artistry as a violinist. But this week he slowed it down for a rendition of the Louis Armstrong classic “What a Wonderful World” and enlisted a vocalist to accompany in singing a few of the lyrics. Episode five of season two of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” marked the semi-final stage of this year’s competition, featuring the 12 acts that advanced from the previous round based on either the Superfan vote or the Judges’ vote. From the group, the four acts to perform tonight that had earned the Judges’ vote were singer, dancer and accordion player Hans, dog tricks act Alexa Lauenberger and comedians JJ Pantano and Ryan Niemiller.
The other eight acts were voted through by the Superfans. They were: three acrobatic acts Duo Transcend, Sandou Trio Russian Bar and Duo Destiny, two magicians Dania Diaz and Marc Spelmann, and then singer Marcelito Pomoy, violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa and contortionist Strauss Serpent.

Can Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel please be the next two judges booted from America’s Got Talent? After Monday’s episode of The Champions, which set the stage for next week’s semifinals, I’m not sure either one of them knows the meaning of the word anymore.
My frustration — which I imagine will be shared by many — comes from the final elimination of the night, the dreaded “judges’ choice.” This week, the panel’s options included Brian King Joseph, an exceptional violinist whose neuropathy will someday leave him paralyzed; Christian and Percy, a human-dog act that exemplifies strength, dedication and companionship; and JJ Pantano,...

“America’s Got Talent: The Champions” viewers are shaking their fists in anger over the judges’ latest decision in Monday’s third episode. After the superfans voted to send through Duo Destiny and Tyler Butler-Figueroa to the semi-finals, it was up to the judges to save either the third, fourth or fifth place finisher. The judges weighed their choices and ultimately decided to keep dog act Alexa Lauenburger, thereby ending the dreams of singer Michael Grimm and choreographers Quick Style
In our recent poll, a whopping 89% of “Agt” fans say Michael deserved to be saved, with 9% picking Quick Style and only 2% choosing Alexa. Do you agree or disagree with these poll results? Be sure to sound off down in the comments section.

Monday’s third episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” got off to a rough start after several of the returning acts failed to impress the judges, particularly grumpmeister Simon Cowell. However, Simon’s buzzing of Freckled Sky, a video projection dance act, was a step too far for Alesha Dixon. “I see a party-pooper,” she proclaimed about her fellow judge from “Britain’s Got Talent.” Do you think Simon was wrong to give Freckled Sky a red “X,” or did their act simply fail to live up to the hype of “Champions”? Watch the “Agt” video above.

“Agt” judge Howie Mandel earned some serious boos during Monday’s third episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” after he dared to give a red “X” to Quick Style, famed choreographers of such groups as Bts. Prior to their performance video (watch above), the three guys admitted their act was going to be “risky” because they “chose a piece that feels a little bit slower than a lot of the acts.” Apparently, their more emotional dance performance just didn’t do it for the reality TV show’s longest-serving judge.

That was fast. After only appearing on one episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions,” former winner Michael Grimm has already been eliminated. The Season 5 champ, a bluesy singer who bought his grandmother a house with his 2010 reality TV earnings, returned to the “Agt” stage during Monday’s third episode. He performed an acoustic version of Etta James‘ “I’d Rather Go Blind” and received mostly positive critiques from the judges, though Simon Cowell wasn’t sold on the song choice. When it came down to the judges’ decision, they voted to advance dog act Alexa Lauenburger to the next round, thereby crushing Michael’s dreams. Did the judges made the wrong choice? America's Got Talent: The Champions Recap: Which Beloved Group Danced Into the Semifinals in Week 3?
Following a series of questionable decisions, the America’s Got Talent judges returned for Week 3 of The Champions on Monday. And this time, no one made me want to throw a chair at my TV. That’ progress!
The power of the Golden Buzzer returned to Howie Mandel this week, though Simon Cowell warned him, “You’d better be quicker than me this time.” (Seriously, we don’t need another Boogie Storm-level act slipping through the cracks because Cowell can’t control his impulses.) Fortunately, Mandel was quick enough this time, hitting — er, sitting on — the coveted Golden Buzzer after watching...

As one of the only comedians cast in Season 2 of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions,” Ryan Niemiller knows he has to do his best to stand out. But he’s got his eye on one judge in particular this time around: Heidi Klum. “I’m pretty excited actually about Heidi,” he says in his pre-show interview (watch above). “She is notoriously kind of harsh on comics sometimes. She doesn’t always get what the comedians are trying to do. She doesn’t necessarily like it right off the bat. And I love those kind of challenges.”

“America’s Got Talent” viewers are heartbroken. Even though their front-runner to win Season 14, blind autistic singer Kodi Lee, wound up taking home the $1 million prize during Wednesday’s finale, things didn’t go according to plan for Indian dance crew V.Unbeatable. The inspirational acrobatic act was predicted to be the runners-up to Kodi, but instead ended up coming in fourth place. Upon hearing the bad news, the dancers broke down in tears on the Dolby Theatre stage, and that’s when judge Julianne Hough stepped in to console them (watch above).

Singer Kodi Lee won “Agt” over choral group Detroit Youth Choir in one of the closest votes ever when the final results were revealed on Wednesday’s episode. Our “America’s Got Talent” winner predictions had expected this to be a tight race between Kodi and Emanne Beasha, the little girl with the big voice. But she did not even make the top 5.
That 10-year-old opera singer Emanne Beasha lost “Agt” was a shock. Perhaps “America’s Got Talent” viewers did not want another young girl to win again so soon after the back-to-back wins by two 12-year olds in 2017 (ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer) and 2016 (singer Grace VanderWaal).

Child violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa returned to the “America’s Got Talent” stage Tuesday night for his last chance at impressing America before the Season 14 finale. Three and a half months after the first audition episode of “America’s Got Talent” aired on NBC, we’ve finally gotten to the two-night finale. On September 17 the 10 finalists will take to the stage for one last time. Each is hoping to win over America with their performances on Tuesday’s live finals, which is episode 22 of season 14.
Among the 10 acts still in the competition are six that were singled out for special treatment at their auditions. They earned the coveted Golden Buzzer, which sent them straight through to the live shows.

In our recent poll we asked “Agt” fans to name their favorite Kodi performance so far on NBC’s reality TV program, and the results are in:
*49% voted for “You Are the Reason” (Semifinals)
*36% voted for “A Song for You” (Audition)
*15% voted for “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (Quarterfinals)
