“Sentinel,” by Hollywood legend Phil Tippett, and “Sister Inconnue,” the first solo directorial outing of Rkss’ Anouk Whissell, cold well be two highlights at a 2024 Cannes Frontières Platform that looks set to underscore the robust range of genre as it is embraced by Hollywood, big independents, horror devotees and auteurs alike.
Creator of creatures for “Star Wars” and “Jurassic Park,” Tippett may have terrified more people than anybody alive. If a teaser is anything to go by, “Sentinel,” a project, may well pick up on the style of 2021’s experimental and nightmarish stop motion/animation “Mad God.”
“Sentinel” features a battleground reminiscent of WWI hellish horror, giant bugs echoing “Starship Troopers,” Tippett’s last big job, attack droids and the statuesque figures of Osiris, Horus and Anubis, the last of which saves the hero, the gas-masked Sentinel, from a gruesome battlefield.
Sure to be a huge draw, an expanded version...

Good Boy is a chilling and twisted feature from up-and-coming Norwegian filmmakers, director Viljar Bøe and producer Karl Oskar Åsli (Til Freddy).
In this bold and original Scandinavian horror, Sigrid (Katrine Lovise Øpstad Fredrikse) thinks she’s met the perfect match with the charming and handsome Christian, but there is one catch – he lives with a man who acts like his pet dog. Trying to be open-minded, Sigrid continues the relationship but begins to notice an insidious under-tone to Christian. Maybe ‘puppy play’ isn’t as innocent as it seems.

From Saban Films and writer/director Viljar Bøe, the bizarre new genre movie Good Boy is now playing in select theaters, and it was also released on Digital and On Demand today.
In the film, “Sigrid thinks she’s met her perfect match with the charming and handsome Christian, but there is one catch- he lives with a man who acts like his pet dog.
“Trying to be open-minded, Sigrid continues the relationship but soon notices an insidious under-tone to Christian. Maybe ‘puppy play’ isn’t as innocent as it seems.”
In the exclusive clip you can watch below to whet your appetite, it becomes clear that the man in the dog costume isn’t exactly a willing participant in this twisted game.
“I’d rather get killed than get caught escaping from him,” the man tells Sigrid while she’s taking him out for a walk. “There’s no point in running.

A smiling millionaire with poster-boy good looks seems the perfect catch for a scatty student – until she discover his ‘pet’ is a man masquerading as a dog
There is a streak of boundary-pushing and wantonness to this Norwegian comedy-horror that bodes well for the career of director Viljar Bøe, even if this, his third feature, is not executed with quite enough finesse to match the rabid premise. It hangs on the quintessential modern dating conundrum: what would you do if you bagged your dream partner, only to find out that they live with someone who dresses and acts like their dog?
That’s the dilemma for scatty student Sigrid (Katrine Lovise Øpstad Fredriksen), who, despite turning up to their first date in her gym clothes, seems to have struck on an implausible match of opposites in well-tailored, impeccably mannered, calorie-counting multimillionaire orphan Christian (Gard Løkke). "Frank was the only one who liked me for who I was." Saban Films has debuted the official US trailer for a kinky, extra strange Norwegian film titled Good Boy, from filmmaker Viljar Bøe. This seems to be a freaky twist on "pup play", but with a few twists. A bold & original thriller from up-and coming director Viljar Bøe. Sigrid thinks she's met her perfect match with the charming and handsome Christian, but there is one catch – he lives with a man named Frank who acts like his pet dog. Trying to be open-minded, Sigrid continues the relationship but soon notices an insidious under-tone to Christian. Maybe "puppy play" isn't as innocent as it seems... Throw your old-fashioned moral concepts overboard for this date movie of the wackiest kind. Viljar Bøe’s film transcends the boundaries of genre as much as those between humans and animals. Be a good audience and watch Good Boy!

Good Boy
It might have been a simple story of boy meets girl, but this boy, Christian (Gard Løkke), apart from being very rich, has an unusual way of living which might put most girls off: he shares his home with a friend, Franks, who wears a furry suit and spends all his time pretending to be a dog. Sigrid (Katrine Lovise Øpstad Fredriksen) is not exactly used to that kind of thing, but when she realises that it’s completely platonic, and when he explains it as something he’s going along with to help his friend through trauma, she decides to give the relationship a chance. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only thing that’s unusual about Christian, and by the time she realises that, it might be too late.
Good Boy is the third feature by Viljar Bøe. It recently screened at BeyondFest, and a short time...

Blue Finch Films has boarded international sales on European genre titles, Scandinavian thriller “Good Boy” and found footage film “Stéphane,” ahead of their world premieres at Beyond Fest.
“Good Boy,” which delves into the perils of the modern dating world, follows Sigrid who thinks she’s met the perfect match in Christian until she comes to find out that he lives with a man who acts like his pet dog.
French thriller “Stéphane,” a new take on the found footage genre, follows Timothée, as he documents his time with the larger-than-life, and almost unbelievable character that he meets whilst shooting a short film. As time goes on their jovial and eccentric talks become something far more sinister.
“Stéphane” directors, Timothée Hochet and Lucas Pastor, said: “Our movie is an homage to all of the Stéphane’s in the world. We all know a guy like him, in all of his weirdness and authenticity.
