Born Of Earth
2008 USA 84mins
Director: Tommy Brunswick
Starring: Daniel Baldwin, James Russo, Shannon Zeller, Jennifer Kincer, and Brad Dourif
Entertainment One
Review by J Astro
Here it is, the year 2012, and we’re just getting around to this monstrous offering from back in ’08… not because we’re lazy, but because, from what I understand, it’s only now getting distribution attention. One could be forgiven for not exactly waiting with bated breath for this release. I had never even heard of it before, honestly. And for good reason – it just ain’t that special.
My main issue with throwaway films like Born Of Earth is a matter of simple volume. I honestly feel that too many movies get made nowadays “just because.” The market is over-saturated with knock-offs and cheap copies. Somebody gets themselves a fistful of cash and borrows a camera and decides to churn out some bare-bones semblance of horror flick.

If you can’t afford Alec Baldwin, just hire his brother Daniel. In doing so, you essentially get the same face and voice but with none of that pesky acting talent or comedic timing. To be fair, even that wouldn’t have done much to redeem Born of Earth, a film about dormant demons resurfacing in greater numbers that could threaten all of human existence on Earth. The premise could work in the hands of a more talented writer and if visualized by a more competent director, unfortunately the respective writing-directing duo of Joseph Thompson and Tommy Brunswick result in a melodramatic film with sloppy camera work that makes the film as painful to watch as it is to follow. To make matters worse, the film’s monsters, the one place where horror films have a chance to be original and make up for disappointments in other areas, resemble rip-offs...

Film: Exit 33 Directed By: Tommy Brunswick Written By: Mark Myers, Norman Koza Staring: Kane Hodder, Antoinette Nikprelaj and Jerry Reid Kane Hodder fans will love Exit 33; he gets a ton of screen time as the star of the film. For the most part Hodder fits the character perfectly until he shows his sensitive side. I like Kane Hodder killing people better, and you do get to see some of that. Another plus to Exit 33 is we get to see the ever so sexy Antoinette Nikprelaj. Despite the few pluses Exit 33 is destined for the bargain bin.

Exit 33 Boy! And you thought Jason Voorhees got violent with some of his murder victims in the Friday the 13th series! After playing the role of Jason for four entries in the Friday the 13th franchise, Kane Hodder is now taking on yet another anti-hero who seems much more violent in his methods of madness. If I saw right, there is at least one scene where a victim is being skinned in Exit 33! Exit 33 looks like it delivers on some pretty stomach churning gore if that is your thing.!

Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood) is taking off the mask to star as Ike in the upcoming indie horror feature Exit 33. This is not a turnpike that you want to take! At the end of this highway lies a serial killer, who likes to treat young women like something out of an anatomy class. Antoinette Nikprelaj as Angie and Maria Hildreth as Eva are tied up, dissected and scalped in all sorts of horrifying ways, in the mature trailer below. Fans of the truly terrifying can pick up this traumatizing tale on DVD August 2nd, through Breaking Glass Pictures and this is the day that Hodder shows all his torture skills from a lifetime of participating in horror films.

Born of Earth will be looking for distribution at the European Film Market, with Multivisionnaire Pictures showing the film. The market begins this Friday, the 12th, with a whole slate of horror pictures making their way to the continent. Born of Earth stars Daniel Baldwin (A Darker Reality), Brad Dourif (Halloween II) and James Russo (Dark Woods). Coincidentally, Russo plays a similar role, as sheriff, in both Dark Woods and Born of Earth. Here, however this picture is much more action oriented and classified in the creature feature, horror sub-genre. Very little info' has surfaced on this feature, since its completion in 2008. The Efm might help Born of Earth find North American or worldwide distribution.
A synopsis for Born of Earth:
"One night, Danny's wife is killed as creatures from hell come to snatch his children. 5-years later Danny remains haunted and criminalized by a community that never believed his story.

Ryan Nicholson of Plotdigger Films gave Fango the first look at the DVD cover art for his extreme gruefest Hanger (pictured), now set to hit disc November 17 from the new Breaking Glass company on their Vicious Circle genre label. He also informed us of his plans for an official release of his underground Internet flick Torched, and passed on the art for that one as well.
Hanger stars Nathan Dashwood, Dan Ellis and Fangoria Radio’s Debbie Rochon and centers on the revenge for a botched abortion meted out by the grown-up object of that operation; we previously revealed the specs for the DVD here. Torched, previously available only on bootleg or edited discs, is fully restored on Plotdigger’s DVD, which comes out Nov. 24. The bloody saga of a nurse giving fiery payback to those who raped her will be presented in 16x9-enhanced widescreen with Dolby 5.1 Surround and 2.0 stereo soundtracks,...
