I always picky in accepting a movie project. If there are characters I have never played in my previous films, I will take it.
Crying, angry, or happy is part of the learning process of self-control to get ourselves out on acting. It's better to do it by don't make it up, but it must be from our own experience and then apply it to our character.
When I first filmed for my first movie The Uninvited (2001), I felt very stiff on set. What the director asked for, I did something else instead. Pretty nervous, never been in front of a camera before.
I was portrayed as a transgender on short film by Razka Robby Ertanto for Jakarta Institute of Arts. I acted as a gay there & did a nasty scene. Because for me, acting can't be limited. Whatever is asked by a director,an actor must do it.
