Since it was announced at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, The Return of the Living Dead Collector’s Edition Blu-ray has been eagerly awaited by fans looking to party with Dan O’Bannon’s unique brand of zombies. Scream Factory is now making those fans happy with their official July release details for the two-disc Blu-ray that contains more than twelve hours of bonus features, comes with new cover art, and is available in two separate editions:
Press Release: Writer/director Dan O’Bannon (Alien, Lifeforce) puts an uproarious spin on the zombie apocalypse movie in 1985’s cult classic The Return Of The Living Dead, starring Clu Gulager (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge), James Karen (Mulholland Drive) and Don Calfa (Weekend at Bernie’s). "But it's already played." There is no greater currency in the press at a film festival than the word "premiere." And that word can mean a great many things. There are regional premieres. North American premieres. Us premieres. Or, in the best case scenario, world premieres. If you've got a movie no one's seen, and it's by someone who has a track record, that is bait on a hook. And sometimes, it seems like it's important to see something first. Take Michael Moore, for example. He's got a track record. There are plenty of things of Michael Moore's that I like. I think you will find few more ardent "TV Nation" fans than me. But he's been away from the game for a while. And tonight, he had a film premiere at the Princess Of Wales theater. I could have gone to that. I will see it tomorrow. There...

Earlier this year, the internet was blindsided with the announcement of the reformation of one of America's greatest hardcore legends, Black Flag, featuring original guitarist and main songwriter Greg Ginn and the band's short-lived sophomore singer Ron Reyes. This would include a performance at U.K.'s Hevy Fest this summer with further dates still being added daily as of this writing. This would mark the first Black Flag tour since Ginn put the Black Flag name on ice in 1986. The tour will also be in support of a new record that is being released this summer.
But just a mere hour-and-a-half after the news of the Black Flag reunion came another announcement to set the hardcore heads on fire, the formation of a band called Flag. Flag would feature original Black Flag singer and current Off! frontman Keith Morris manning the mic and fleshed out with Black Flag founding bass player Chuck Dukowski,...

Hardcore fans of Sloan will enjoy news the band's releasing a limited edition 7" vinyl single "Hardcore Package" that also includes a covers album of classic hardcore punk songs.
According to the band's official site, the package includes the vinyl single with two new songs entitled "Jenny" and "It's In You, It's In Me." Meanwhile, perhaps the big score is a bonus digital download featuring "songs of the bands that were soundtrack to Sloan's youth" and date from 1978 to 1984.
The album is led by three Angry Samoans covers ("Gas Chamber," "Gimme Sopor" and "Hot Cars") along with two from 7 Seconds ("Bully" and "This Is The Angry"). Minor Threat, Bad Religion, Black Flag, Circle Jerks and The Descendents are also covered on the album.

Two of Black Flag’s many iterations are reuniting, though neither of them involves Henry Rollins. One version is calling itself Black Flag and features Greg Ginn, drummer Robo (who left to join the Misfits in 1981), and singer Ron Reyes, who was with the band between 1979 and 1980. That crew will be playing Hevy Fest in Kent, England Aug. 2-4. Another permutation of the band will be out on the road this spring under the name Flag. That lineup features longtime bassist Chuck Dukowski, Black Flag co-founder and Circle Jerks/Off! singer Keith Morris, Descendents guitarist Stephen Egerton ...

Jack Black has teamed with Funny or Die and Off!, the all-star L.A. punk band featuring Keith Morris (Circle Jerks, Black Flag) and members of Redd Kross and Burning Brides, for a literally gut-wrenching video for the band's song "Wrong." Starting with a faux bumper welcoming TV viewers back to the Saturday afternoon movie, "Lethal Justice," the off-the-cuff clip evokes sleazy '70s exploitation movies, with Jack Black and the members of Off! forming a gang to battle the mustachioed Jalisco underneath a bridge. It's a one-joke premise that isn't particularly original, especially in the age of Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez,...

The Circle Jerks hit the stage in My Career as a Jerk.
The 2011 feature-length documentary film Circle Jerks: My Career as a Jerk chronicles the career of the controversial but seminal L.A. punk band the Circle Jerks.

It’s always exciting when a supergroup is formed, isn’t it? You feel all warm inside, like as if you’ve just poured a cauldron of boiling-how stew down your throat; you feel all dizzy like your first ever drag of a cigarette; you’re shaking like a crack addict in rehab; and the anticipation is practically oozing out of you, dribbling earwax out of your ears, squeezing tears from your eyes, frothy spit bubbling from your mouth. Or is that just me?
There’s something about the word – supergroup – that makes me all itchy. Like as if I’ve just been stung by ten wasps or something. In a good way, though. It’s as if the members are saying: ‘Yeah, we’re just going to dabble with something new for a while. We’re so good at...

Of course you do! Otherwise you wouldn’t have clicked on this. Unless your finger slipped, of course.
Off! – a band featuring previous members of awesome bands like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Rocket From The Krypt, Red Kross etc are offering everyone, yes everyone, a free download of a track off their forthcoming self-titled album. What’s not to like about that? Nothing. So go and download it.
With their debut, First Four EPs, Off! showed a breathless vehemence that went hand in hand with their punk/hardcore backgrounds – barreling through 16 high-octane tracks in just as many minutes. It was a party, a dark party at that, where the speed you were on didn’t take long to come up and there was no weird comedown after it, either. It was a soundtrack of unleashed exasperation and bitterness executed with a rigorous precision that managed to live up to the...

Some old school fans for the Warped Tour will say that the good bands that made the tour don.t play anymore, but the fact of the matter is that the summer festival has something for everyone. I remember going to the Vans Warped Tour in Ventura a few years back, and I would get to see punk legends Circle Jerks, Bad Religion, NoFX, The Dickies and Adolescents alongside newer acts such as Killswitch Engage, Cute Is What We Aim For, Paramore and Yellowcard. Walking through the convention center or the streets of Austin this week, it's hard to ignore the tape-spackled, staple-ridden posters, sounding their visual siren calls, trying to reel you in amidst the crowds and visual noise. As the world goes digital it's interesting to note how much tangible objects stand out. You can't hand someone a Jpeg. You can't fold it up and put it in your pocket. And while much physical guerilla marketing has been supplanted by Facebook invites and Twitter hashtags, there is, as of yet, no Facebook invite that stays at the top of your inbox long enough to remind you how much you danced at a TV On The Radio show. You don't print out emailed fliers and hang them on your walls of your apartment to silently call up an experience, or a lyric, or a defining period in your life. When you pluck an...

Afternoon temperatures reached 110 degrees in the racetrack parking lot where Epicenter took place, but the crowd's enthusiasm never seemed to wane, thanks in part to a steady stream of water misters and water cannons. Born out of music lover Sean Carlson's dream of throwing a festival where people could pop in and out of multiple venues and experience a variety of entertainment, Fyf (then known as Fuck Yeah Fest) launched in 2003. With a lot of hard work and a little help from friends, the then 18 year old Carlson made a whopping $5 in donations from the free event. Since then, the attendance has gone from 2,000 to 20,000, and in 2009 Fyf moved to the Los Angeles State Historic Park in Chinatown (simultaneously re-instating funding to the struggling landmark). With the help of friends Keith Morris (of Black Flag, Circle Jerks, and Off!) and Phil Hoelting, Fyf has grown into a festival force to be reckoned with, the truly indie answer to bohemoths like Coachella and Lollapalooza.
