In a recent interview with Daisuke Sakuma on his radio talk show, Bleach creator Tite Kubo shared insights into his creative process, revealing that he kept his editor at arm’s length, never allowing him to interfere in the manga.
“I’m the type of writer who doesn’t really have meetings with my editor,” Kubo stated.
Unlike many manga creators who frequently consult with their editors, Kubo preferred to work on his own terms.
“When I was serializing, my editor would come to pick up the manuscript once it was done. I’d tell them, ‘Next week, it’ll go like this,’ and then they’d leave,” he explained.
Sakuma expressed surprise at this approach, noting that it’s common for editors to be heavily involved in shaping a manga’s story.

It’s not easy being a mangaka who has written over 1000 chapters for an ultra-hit manga series. Very few people will understand the pain that goes into creating such a huge franchise, and Eiichiro Oda and Gosho Aoyama are some of them. In a recent interview with Bunshun, Gosho Aoyama revealed that he nearly ended Detective Conan manga due to persistant interference from the editorial department.
This revelation comes on the heels of Aoyama’s recent feature on the Nhk documentary Professional: Shigoto no Ryuugi, which highlighted his creative process.
Aoyama shared that before Detective Conan transitioned to an animated feature film in 1997, he was on the brink of quitting the serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday.
The intense pressure to come up with new cases weekly and the constant demands from the higher-ups in the editorial department had pushed him to his limits.
“It’s really tough coming up with new cases every week, isn’t it? Plus, the higher-ups in the editorial department were constantly telling me to do this or that, which I really hated. So, I decided to take a break with my assistants and we all went to Las Vegas.

Mayumi Tanaka, the voice actor of Monkey D. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece, might have found the perfect replacement who can take over her role as Luffy. Tanaka has been voicing Luffy for almost thirty years, and she has done a great job portraying the character over the years.
Luffy in One Piece
However, as she is getting old and the series is still a little far away from the conclusion, the creators might have to find someone else who could do justice to the character of Luffy. This has also become a major concern for Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece. Oda never imagined that the series would go on for so long.
In an interview, Oda talked about how Masako Nozawa, the character who voiced Dr. Kureha in One Piece, offered to take Tanaka’s role as Luffy’s voice actor in One Piece.

Eiichiro Oda has introduced a lot of characters in One Piece, but according to fans, the cutest character among them is Tony Tony Chopper, the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. Chopper first appeared during the Drum Island arc, and the backstory of the character melted the hearts of every One Piece fan.
Tony Tony Chopper – Before The Time Skip
The major credit for Chopper’s cuteness goes to Ikue Ootani, the voice actor for the character. Ootani is known for playing Pikachu in Pokémon, Konohamaru in Naruto, and Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya in Detective Conan. Ootani’s voice is one of the cutest voices in the anime industry, and her roles certainly reflect that.
During an interview, Oda talked about Ootani’s role as Chopper. He praised her and stated that because of her, Oda had to change one major rule about mascots. Mascots are cute or comedic side characters who...

One Piece has been trending since the beginning of Monkey D. Luffy vs. Rob Lucci on the Egghead Island. Even though there are several anime that are pretty good and competing for first place, One Piece has made the first position its stronghold. Thousands of readers prefer One Piece over other manga, and Eiichiro Oda has worked hard to achieve that level of popularity.
But it was not always like this. Before the rivalry of the Big Three of anime, Eiichiro Oda was hell-bent on surpassing a certain manga on the Weekly Shounen Jump. It always used to come up on top, and at one point, Oda sensei became desperate. The manga that challenged One Piece was none other than Detective Conan, which is still going on.

Anime power-ups are a trope as old as time, bringing excitement to the heat of battle, freshness to the hero (or villain) and their attacks. They also teach young readers and viewers that through training they can grow bigger and stronger — or in the case of Luffy's Gear 5 in "One Piece," they can turn into cartoon chaos gods.
