Steven Elwell(I)
- Actor
Steven K Elwell was born in Miami, Florida, where he resided for 38
years until 2001 when he gave up the warm weather of Florida and moved
to Detroit, Michigan. Steve attended Southwest Miami Senior High School
and Miami-Dade Community College. His first work experience was that of
a certified aircraft mechanic and auto mechanic. In the late 1980s he
switched professions to a career in software development. While not his
primary career Steve has worked professionally as a musician since his
high school days performing on saxophone and flute in jazz big bands
and salsa Latin bands. He primarily performed with the Dick Cully Jazz
Band in Boca Raton, and Orchestra Casablanca and Lefty Perez in Miami.
Steve feels very fortunate to have worked with many of the talented
musicians from orchestras such as Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton,
Maynard Ferguson and the University of Miami School of Jazz. Throughout
the years Steve has performed machinist and mechanic duties on several
SCCA and NHRA racecars preferring to keep his feet on the ground and
not on the pedals. In 1987 Steve was offered the chance to perform
`Auld Lang Syne' on his baritone sax in the movie comedy Happy New Year (1987)
starring Peter Falk and Charles Durning. While he enjoyed the experience of
performing on camera and having his sounds used as background music in
portions of the movie he chose not to pursue further onscreen work.
Steve currently resides in the Detroit, Michigan area where he develops
software using the languages of C#, C/C++ and Pascal. He is currently
single and has no children.
