Vatsal Patel, also known by his alias Victor Fuego migrated from India to the United States at the age of 16; he was accompanied by his mother and grandmother. Vatsal was a single-parent child; after graduating from the UConn undergraduate program, Vatsal pursued dual degrees in MD and MBA at UConn on the east coast. Later, he went to Yale, where he worked as an intern for one year, followed by a year of diagnostic radiology residency. After spending two years at Yale, he decided to fulfill his passion for oncology which led to his resignation in good standing. Soon after, he pursued a radiation oncology specialty at UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center. Vatsal graduated from his oncology residency training in June of 2019. Currently, Vatsal works as an attending physician in his specialty at a private clinic in Iowa. He loves his job and enjoys taking care of cancer patients.
Vatsal aspires to design a unique business model for cancer patients where they will receive holistic care. He firmly believes that human beings have the potential to design their own realities, and it is with those realities that they can create their own world. According to Vatsal, no human being should ever suffer due to disease or die in agony solely because they couldn't afford treatment or medicines, especially for a disease as deadly as cancer. He strongly believes that each individual has the power within them to bring about positive change. Each person is a vast institution with immense potential yet to be tapped. All it takes is helping one person at a time, and the journey begins right there. Nobody deserves to live in pain and suffering, let alone die with them.
Throughout his childhood, he had fancied being an actor. However, his family was quite opposed to the idea of him paving the way as a filmmaker or as an actor. Nonetheless, a shift from the entertainment industry to a specialty in oncology was a whole different paradigm, whereas the latter turned out to be quite a challenging pursuit for him. Not only was it eye-opening, but also life-altering in more ways than one can imagine. His oncology experience inspired him to open up his own filmmaking production company by the name 72 Laughing Buddhas Production LLC. Vatsal and his team shot the pilot for a screenplay he had written last July, hoping it would sell as a TV series.
Having no Godfather in life in general and none in the film industry either, Vatsal decided to launch himself as an actor by becoming a screenwriter, a director, and a producer, all while graduating from a turbulent residency. By then, he was considered an all-rounder, as he was also caring for two sick women in the family. All these experiences have prepared him today to the point where he is ready to pursue his ever-growing passion for filmmaking and acting. Vatsal Patel is a swift learner; he is someone who puts his heart and soul into his lessons. At 30, Vatsal learned swimming and horse riding; he never finds acquiring new skills a challenge. He did his first sprint triathlon within six months of learning to swim. Within six months of learning to ride horses, he was learning dressage and later engaged in polo. He would often wake up at 4 AM and drive a hundred miles early in the morning to fit dressage in his busy residency schedule.
Vatsal is dedicated to whatever task he takes on, whatever he puts his heart to. Vatsal loves learning new skills and always takes constructive criticism as an opportunity to improve. Even if the criticism is not constructive, he is someone who has learned to swallow it. Vatsal is considered malleable like clay, porous as a sponge that soaks well, and humble as a peasant.
