Exclusive: Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired U.S. rights to Jump, Darling, an LGBTQ+ family drama featuring the final performance of the late screen icon Cloris Leachman, with plans to release it in theaters and on digital and VOD in March.
The film written and directed by Phil Connell tells the story of Russell (newcomer Thomas Duplessie), an aspiring actor otherwise known for his drag persona, Fishy Falters. After a disastrous non-debut at Toronto drag club Peckers, Russell leaves his status-conscious boyfriend and takes shelter in Canadian wine country with his grandmother Margaret (Leachman)—a woman coming to terms with her own mortality, who is at the same time determined to hang on to her independence.
While Russell struggles to establish himself at the local dive bar and flirts with not-so-straight busboy Zachary (Kawku Adu-Poku), Margaret fends off the best intentions...

Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Giant Little Ones, the coming-of-age drama from Canadian director Keith Behrman that had its world premiere earlier this fall as a Toronto Film Festival special presentation. The plan is for a March 2019 platform theatrical release.
Josh Wiggins, Darren Mann, Taylor Hickson, Maria Bello and Kyle MacLachlan star in the pic, which centers on Franky Winter (Wiggins) and Ballas Kohl (Mann) who have been best friends since childhood. They are high school royalty – handsome, stars of the swim team and popular with girls. They live the perfect teenage life, until the night of Franky’s epic 17th birthday party when Franky and Ballas are involved in an unexpected incident that changes their lives forever.

Kyle MacLachlan, star of Showtime’s recently revived Twin Peaks, has joined La and Toronto-based euclid431’s Ya drama Glo, which is currently shooting in and around Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario, Canada.
The star of the recently revived Twin Peaks on Showtime joins previously announced Maria Bello and Josh Wiggins on the Ya drama.
Keith Behrman wrote and directed Glo, also known as The Giant Little Ones, about two popular teenage friends whose lives and families are turned upside-down after an unexpected incident occurs at a 17th birthday party.
Darren Mann, Taylor Hickson, and Peter Outerbridge round out the cast. Production in Ontario is scheduled to continue through August.
Telefilm Canada, Storyboard Entertainment, Omdc, Nohfc, Mongrel Media, CBC, Urban Post, Bell Media’s Harold Greenberg Fund, and Tmn are financing the project.

"In a heartbeat. In a heartbeat I would do a Storm movie. I love that character through and through. So if that ever became an opportunity for me if it's before I'm 65-years old I would absolutely do that. I think they should do it. If the fans want that the fans need to speak up and I'm sure it would be a possibility. If Fox felt like they could make money off of a Storm movie I'm sure they would do it."

Canadian actor Scott Speedman ("Underworld," "Felicity") will play a gentleman bank robber in the indie true-crime feature "Edwin Boyd" from Euclid 431 Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.
Boyd was a World War II veteran and a family man who rose to 1950s media fame as a gentleman bandit who undertook dramatic bank hold-ups and two prison breaks.
Also starring are Kelly Reilly as his wife, Brian Cox as his father, Brendan Fletcher as a fellow gang member, and both Charlotte Sullivan and Kevin Durand. Allison Black is producing.
The film is currently being shopped to foreign buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin. Shooting kicks off next Thursday in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario with a premiere likely to take place at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
