Marissa Cox (Marissa Nicole Cox Romero) is an American actress who has performed in film, television, stage and the theater. From San Jose, California USA. Marissa is known for being included in the Hollywood film scene and also contributed to the Indie film industry in the San Francisco Bay Area. Marissa also performed as a Singer-Song-Writer, Editor, Publisher and worked as a Nurses Aide.
In the 1960's and 1970's growing up in San Jose, California, Marissa sang and played instruments in school bands as well as performing in school plays and programs. Marissa attended church services with her family and participated in Christian Bible study classes. Marissa enjoyed playing sports and played as a starting pitcher in her neighborhood baseball league (Moreland Little League). Her best performance as a teenager in the Senior League Division, Marissa, having good command of the nuckle-ball, struck-out 19 batters in a row in a 7 inning 21 out game. Marissa also kept busy delivering newspapers for the San Jose Mercury News, listening to pop music and watching movies at the theaters. Marissa cooked at Jack-in-the-Box and Tony Roma's Restaurants. Marissa married in 1975 and became a parent to her first son in 1976. The marriage ended in 1978 and 1 year later, Marissa met her second spouse.
In the 1980's, Marissa enjoyed being a daily watcher of the then new MTV music videos, went to many popular rock concerts and loved the movie theaters. Marissa became a parent to her second son in 1988. Marissa worked in the Pest Control industry in Spokane, WA as well as Sacramento, CA and San Jose, CA. thru 2005.
In 1994, Marissa began to have an interest in nursing after finding and assisting an elderly woman lying on the street after she had taken a fall. In 1995 and into the 2000's Marissa Cox continued in adult Bible Study College classes and sang in church. Always giving thanks to and praising the Lord Jesus Christ in her daily life. Not claiming to be perfect in any way and admitting to her short comings. Walking by faith, "I forgive because I have been forgiven" is a statement Marissa posted on her Facebook account as a reference to her faith. Marissa's belief that we should all strive to be Loving, Caring and Forgiving of one another putting aside our differences (using wisdom to know when to steer clear), gives light to an often seen nursing uniform top she was photographed wearing proclaiming, "Kind people are my kind of people".
In the 2000's, Marissa trained as a Certified Nurses Aide and began working in the field in 2003 specializing in Home Health Aide services including hospice care situations feeling "led" in the direction of helping persons in need of care. Marissa worked 2-8 hour shifts as a CNA. In large Senior Care Facilities, Marissa was known to be there even for some individual's last day. Marissa would sit with these ones, talking, counseling and praying with them at the final moment. Marissa helped many seniors and disabled individuals with many different health issues in their homes as well as in facilities. After progressing through some life changing experiences in the early 2010's, Marissa proclaimed in 2012 that she intends to always be available to help individuals needing help for as long as she is able. "This is my priority."
Marissa Cox became active in the filming industry in the 2010's and continued into the 2020's acting, directing, writing and producing. Marissa Cox appeared as an actress in film projects and movies, some of which include; "Pizza Guys - TV Advertising" (2018), "Veritas -Theater filming" (2019), "Padmavyuha" -movie (2020), "The Matrix: Resurrections" -movie (2021), "Pawn Stars Do America: San Francisco" - TV Show (2022), while pursuing a dream of producing her own films. Founder of Mt. Hamilton Pictures of San Jose, California (2019) established as a film company with a primary intention of producing fun, entertaining family movies. Executive Producer and co-writer of films, "Crawl" -Short (2025), "The Clean Slate Project" -Short (2025), "Hard to get" - Short (2024-2025) , "California Vacation: Gold Country" -movie (2025)-(2026), "UFO Encounter -movie" (2026)-(2028) which is about an actual true event that took place in Marissa's life. As well as acting in all.
(2024) Marissa Cox became a Writer and Editor of the San Jose, California publication, "The San Jose Realm". A publication with a twist examining the life and times of California Celebrities local to the San Francisco Bay Area, with a special interest in celebs who reside in the San Jose, CA vicinity. Marissa also became an editor with Abbreviations.com in 2024 and was the inventor of the abbreviation, "b'up" or, "bup" meaning, "better hurry up".
As a singer-song writer, Marissa wrote and sang songs in her rock band out of San Jose, California, "Marissa Cox and the Purple Hearts". As a Christian, Marissa was known to slip in a Christian statement or song here and there. Marissa's first album and first live show concerts went on tour in 2024 titled, "Let's do this!" includes hits, "Hard to Get", "My Black Cadillac", "Love that misty water", "Rockin' with the freakin' dead", "Demolition of Love", "Should Have Known Better", "Livin' in California" - (2024). The Second Album, "Open Mic." contains, "I Feel Ya", "My kind of People", "You don't want to show me", A little bit of butter (and some brown sugar) - (2025). The Third Album, "California Vacation", contains, "California Vacation", "I wanna know where the gold is", "I just can't get enough", "Run", plus many others. (2026).
Marissa suffered of diabetes since 2012. Unfortunately, in 2020 Marissa contracted a bad case of Covid-19 while working on-set for a week in Chinatown, San Francisco, CA which she never recovered from fully. In 2021 Marissa was diagnosed with kidney and liver disease after the development of symptoms as well as "Long Term Covid" which meant Marissa would likely have to live a Covid-Symptomatic life. She also battled with severe Asthma. Marissa spent 2 weeks in Major Medical Care with pneumonia and a tough resurgence of Covid-19 in November and December of 2022 which quarantined her thru December of 2022. Marissa continued to experience muscle weakness, loss of weight, diminished eyesight, tiredness and difficulty breathing into 2024. In these final years, time being precious, Marissa persevered and moved forward into her senior years as she continued in all her goals and dreams. Vowing to "fight the good fight", Marissa worked to continue singing and moving forward in the movie business fulfilling her dreams to her best ability while always thanking the Lord for His provisions.
