New Delhi, June 21 (Ians) Embracing yoga as a holistic approach can help prevent cancer, boost heart health as well as enable a person live an active and healthy life, said doctors on International Yoga Day on Wednesday.
Various studies have shown the health benefits associated with yoga.
A recent study led by the University of Rochester Medical Centre and not peer-reviewed yet, showed that yoga significantly reduced inflammation — a hallmark of cancer that can both promote and constrain tumours, and also lead to spread around the body — among cancer survivors.
Yoga was also found to be better at helping relieve fatigue and maintain quality of life, the researchers found.
“Yoga possesses an incredible ability to enhance our overall health and well-being. It can potentially bring about a transformative impact on preventing the risk of cancer. Yoga plays a vital role in diminishing chronic inflammation, alleviating stress, and enhancing blood circulation,...

During the Covid-19 pandemic, people across the world understood how unpleasant the feeling of breathlessness can be when the virus hit lung capacity. With the coronavirus again seeing a resurgence, there is enhanced aspiration to remain fit as the feeling of dread that the pandemic invoked has led to a heightened sense of concern regarding health, immunity, and overall well-being.
Nobody wants to get sick again and everyone wants to become fit, look young, and feel good. However, due to a busy lifestyle, very few people can manage to hit a gym or gather the courage to beat the cold or laziness and go outdoors for running.

New-age technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (Ml) have taken diagnosis, treatment, post-operative care, remote patient care and palliative care to a whole new level.
Ashutosh Niranjan, Dean of Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences (Niims), told Ians, "Traditional learning methods are going to remain in the coming times as well, but in the new age of technology, virtual reality, AI and Ml are some of the new ways of learning."
New methods are being implemented to teach and train future doctors and physicians.
For example, AI will improve the ability of physicians to store digital data and make diagnosis and prognosis.
Experts believe that there are other new trends in teaching and assessment methods such as computer-aided instruction, virtual patients, augmented reality, human patient simulation, and virtual reality for assessing students’ competency.
Medlearn’s CEO Deepak Sharma said that the pandemic has proven to be a turning point for Indian healthcare.

New Delhi, Aug 27 (Ians) A day after getting relief from the international body (FIFA), the All Indian Football Federation (Aiff) on Saturday released a final list of candidates who filed their nominations for the elections, scheduled to take place on September 2.
With the contest pitting Kalyan Chaubey, a former national footballer who is currently a member of the West Bengal State Bjp, against the poster boy of Indian football, Bhaichung Bhutia — the most-capped footballer after Sunil Chhetri and the first Indian to play 100 international matches, it’s a no-brainer that a former footballer will be at the helm of affairs in a national body hitherto ruled by politicians and businessmen.
The list is almost the same as that shared by Ians earlier. However, the new entry is of Manvendra Singh (Rajasthan association chief) for the vice-president post and Gopalkishna Kosaraju (Andhra president) for treasurer.
List:
President: Bhaichung Bhutia, Kalyan Chaubey
Vice-president: Na Haris,...

Sources said that once the executive committee is elected, the Delhi Football’s president Saji Prabhakaran is expected to take over as the General Secretary of Aiff.
"The decision has been taken in a Delhi hotel, on yesterday evening that the State Associations will nominate the candidates unanimously and elect them without contest," he said.
On Wednesday, the state associations had called a press conference but postponed it due to unavoidable reasons. The sources told Ians that the reason behind the postponement of press meet was disagreement on the few names. But now it has been decided that both Chaubey and Haris will be elected unanimously.
According to the sources, the 14 executive committee members will be: Avijit Paul -Orissa,...
