- Harpist, composer and author, she studied harp with Alfred Kastner, and was harpist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Hollywood Bowl orchestras for twelve years, becoming first harpist in 1945. Film studios often featured her harp music, and she was also on numerous radio and television programs and recordings. - May Hogan Cambern's mother was Eva M. Hogan (1873-1951). May married Carroll G. Cambern in 1925 and they remained married until his death in 1967.
- May Hogan Cambern was an officer in the Los Angeles chapter of the American Harp Society and honorary life member of the Dominant Club, an association of women musicians.
- May Hogan Cambern played harp in orchestras led by Leopold Stokowski, Bruno Walter, and in recording sessions for George Gershwin and Mary Pickford.
- May Hogan Cambern joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra as harpist in 1919 and at that time was the youngest member, and the only woman. She resigned from the orchestra in 1938 to focus more on her work at recording companies, movie studios and later, television networks.
