Growing up in the Bay Area, Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, now known to fans as Saweetie, listened to 106.1 Kmel and Wild 949 on her drive to school with her dad every morning. And like clockwork, Turf Talk's "It's a Slumper," her dad's favorite song, could be heard blasting from the 808 speakers in the trunk as they made their way across the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge. At home, the family computer was riddled with viruses, thanks to her LimeWire downloads of Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma's mixtapes. This was Saweetie's first introduction to hip-hop.
"Both of my parents were really big hip-hop heads. My dad played a lot of the greats, Tupac, Biggie, but I'm from the Bay, so I grew up listening to Mac Dre, Too $hort, Mac Mall, and Mistah F.A.B.," the 30-year-old rapper tells Popsugar. "The Bay Area has so many great hip-hop artists from every era, but that's...

The new Netflix Thai drama Delete is packed with twists and turns worthy of a good thriller. The first season has been received very well, but considering its ending, a lot of people will be wondering what’s next. Delete is a series that follows a couple who have been unfaithful to their partners and want to start a new life together. One day, a girl asks the woman to take a picture of her with a unique phone-looking device. Once she takes the photo, the girl disappears, leaving the woman stunned. It turns out that the phone can “delete” people, and this gives the couple an idea. A whirlwind of situations follow as the couple navigate their lives after using the phone and change completely. It’s an interesting series for sure, but a lot of questions were left unanswered at the end of season 1, including a new storyline all together.

From blockbuster Shutter director Parkpoom Wongpoom (Oh) comes a new Thai drama on Netflix titled Delete. The show follows a young man and woman, Aim and Lilly, who are having an affair. Both of their partners will know the truth soon enough. But when Aim and Lilly get their hands on a camera device that removes a person from existence with just one click, they decide to use it to lead a happy life together. A seemingly simple idea creates a dramatic series of events that change Aim and Lilly’s lives for good. I think Delete had the potential to be fantastic, but there are a few things that drag it down. For an 8-part series, mostly everything gets left unanswered by the end of the season, and even if a new chapter is opening up for a potential second season, I think some closure was required to wrap...

Writers these days are starting to fear that they’re going to lose their livelihoods to script-writing A.I. programs, and in the upcoming thriller Dreamquil, Elizabeth Banks – director of Cocaine Bear and star of Call Jane – is going to be facing off with an A.I. that’s trying to take over her life! Deadline reports that John C. Reilly (Boogie Nights) has signed on to star in Dreamquil with Banks, and filming is expected to begin in the third quarter of the year.
Set to mark the feature directing debut of Alex Prager, who was nominated for the SXSW Grand Jury Prize in 2023 for her short film Run, Dreamquil will be set in the not-too-distant future and is described as being “a cautionary tale about what happens when Artificial Intelligence and automation are integrated into our daily lives“. The story takes place at a time when poor air...
