David M. Lieberman

Composer and musician David M. Lieberman (aka Dave Lieber) was educated at the University of North Carolina (Bachelor of Arts) and St. John's University Law School (LL.B). He was self-taught in piano and harmony. At college, he wrote and directed music for varsity shows, played in Norman Bennett's jazz band, and continued writing afterwards. Joining ASCAP in 1948, his songs include All I Desire; One Thrilling Moment; This Is My Love; You Are There (with Frankie Carle); Wonder (with Vic Weisman); and It's All The Same To Me. Artists who performed his songs include David Rose, Tutti Camarata, Al Goodman, Charlie Barnet with Lena Horne, Bob Manning, Dick Thomas, Tommy Furtado, Glenn Osser, and Don Cherry. Over the decades, from 1922 he resided in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Little Neck, N.Y.; Morganton, N.C.; and Chapel Hill, N.C. where he is interred.
