From this role, Gable was nominated for "Best Newcomer" at the 2005 National Television Awards (UK). Although he was born in the inner London borough of the City of Westminster, Gabel spent many of his early years in Canada, before returning to the United Kingdom to live in both Bristol and Manchester in England, UK, where he attended secondary school (the UK equivalent of American middle school and high school).
He has Algerian, French, Spanish, Dutch, Anglo-Indian, Irish, and Portuguese ancestry.
While living in Manchester, UK, Gabel attended St. Damian's RC Science College (the "RC" stands for Roman Catholic), a co-ed secondary school in Ashton-under-Lyne in the county of Greater Manchester, not far from his family's home in Manchester.
