Going into the recording of their third full-length album, La-based rockers Everest found themselves in an interesting place—out of a major label contract with Warner Brothers, and into a deal with indie stronghold Ato. L.A. band Everest has some pretty solid credentials. Formed by Russell Pollard—formerly of Sebadoh, The Folk Implosion, and Earlimart—the group is touring later this year with Neil Young and is tight with producers Richard Swift and Rob Schnapf, the latter of whom made Beck’s Mellow Gold and Odelay, Elliott Smith’s Xo and Figure 8, and Foo Fighters’ self-titled debut.
