Lelum Rathnayake is an actor, writer, and producer. He was a key cast member in the short film Hush Darling directed by the award-winning, Finnish-Australian Saara Lamberg. He has always been an avid actor and a creative storyteller.
He has been taking part in and creating several stage plays during the years 2016-2019 in high school before he moved to Adelaide, where he started pursuing his higher education with a degree in Chemical Engineering, at the University of Adelaide. He has been involved in several readings hosted by the University of Adelaide Theatre Guild, where he befriended Saara and took part in creating Hush Darling.
The film had its premiere at the Capri Theatre in Adelaide, Australia as a Feature Event Official Selection for the Feast Festival. The film was nominated for the Best Short Film at the International Shorts film festival in Melbourne in 2020. In 2021, the film was declared an Official Selection for the AIFilmFest in Tehran, Iran, and further for the Pride Queer Film Festival (PQFF) in Perth.
