Joanna Duda - pianist, composer, visual artist. The music that she creates is broadly understood
experimental music with elements of improvisation, jazz and IDM. The artist's projects are solo (album
KEEN Alpaka rec. 2019) and Joanna Duda Trio (Maksymilian Mucha - double bass, Michal Bryndal -
drums). Both are characterized by combining electronic and acoustic sounds in an osmotic, organic and
layered way. What is unique in the artist's music is that she creates a new quality finding sonic aesthetics
where it seems to be lacking.
Joanna Duda composed music for the "Erotica 2022" series, the first Polish film for Netflix Originals with the
participation of directors: Kasia Adamik, Olga Chajdas, Jagoda Szelc, Anna Jadowska, Anna Kazejak;
screenplay, among others, Olga Tokarczuk (Literary Nobel Prize), Joanna Bator (Dark, Almost Night).
Joanna Duda is also the author of the music for the "Cudak" directed by Anna Kazejak.
The artist also performs contemporary music, e.g. with Lutoslawski Piano Duo and Mischa Kozlowski (the
album Unchained with compositions by Julius Eastman, awarded by Pizzicato magazine and nominated for
the International Classical Music Awards 2016). She collaborated in an electronic-acoustic trio with
Krzysztof Knittel and Marek Choloniewski, which they presented during the Ad Libitum Festival (2019).
Joanna Duda has been a member of the Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet since 2008.
She has performed, among others, in Vancouver, Hamilton, Edmonton, Tokyo, Takasaki, Aomori,
Kaliningrad, Beijing, Singapore, Delhi, Shanghai, Istanbul, Bucharest, Budapest, Berlin, Weimar,
London, Dublin, Oslo, Sisimiut, Nuuk (Greenland).
Joanna Duda created the installation TRACK (S), video-art Flow (including the Ksiegania/Wystawa in
Krakow, Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin), video-art and the installation Memory of Water (Polish-Japanese cooperation);
together with Katarzyna Pastuszak (Theater Amareya) co-creates the audiovisual spectacle SKIN.
In 2017, she founded the Joanna Duda Trio which played, among others at Jazzahead! 2018 in Bremen, at
jazz festivals in Edmonton and Vancouver, as part of Jazzconnective in Helsinki, at the Jazztopad festival in
Wroclaw. She has composed music for many theater performances (including Amareya Theater - Nomadic
