It’s heating up in “Hell’s Kitchen” with only three chef-testants remaining in the Fox reality TV competition for a head chef position at Gordon Ramsay‘s Lake Tahoe restaurant. With just two episodes left, Declan Horgan, Kori Sutton and Mary Lou Davis have been described as three of the most competitive, talented chefs in “Hell’s Kitchen” history. The “HK19” finalists will compete in one last cooking challenge on April 15 before the final two face off for the title on April 22.

Usually on “Hell’s Kitchen,” host Gordon Ramsay decides who goes and who stays. But during the fifth episode of Season 19, one aspiring chef made the decision easy for him. Citing “mental pain and negativity,” Peter Martinez threw in the towel during dinner service and voluntarily quit Fox’s long-running reality TV show. That makes him the sixth person to leave this Las Vegas edition, following Kenneth McDuffie, Eliott Sanchez, Fabiola Fuentes, Drew Tingley and Brittani Ratcliff.
“If this is what it takes to be an executive chef, then the facts are there: I am not ready,” Peter explained after he exited the restaurant. “I don’t believe that every executive chef that’s established in the world has gone through all this mental pain and negativity. No amount of money is worth that stress.” Fighting back tears, the New Jersey sous chef concluded, “I just need to get back home.

“I was hoping to bring a little bit more to the table and I fell short — it’s heartbreaking,” revealed Brittani Ratcliff after being eliminated by Chef Gordon Ramsay on “Hell’s Kitchen.” During her exit interview at the end of the fourth episode, the 30-year-old executive sous chef added, “The whole experience I’m gonna take back with me. You learn more from failing than you do from winning. If I can get some fresh fish in Kentucky then I’m gonna practice it every day. My family’s gonna be tired of eating fish.”

The fourth episode of “Hell’s Kitchen‘s” 19th season brought about another double elimination, but with a twist. One person was medically evacuated for having body cramps, while another was eliminated by Chef Gordon Ramsay for not having the skills required to run a kitchen. Elsewhere in the episode, one member of the Red Team broke down into tears when she was told she was switching over to the Blue Team, and the feud between Marc Quinones and Declan Horgan rose to a fever pitch. So how did it all play out on Thursday night?

At the end of Thursday’s third episode of “Hell’s Kitchen,” Chef Gordon Ramsay made the bold decision to eliminate a contestant who’d just been struck with an illness: Fabiola Fuentes. His choice was solidified when she failed to cook a flatbread pizza properly. “To be my head chef, you need to have passion, leadership and great skills,” Ramsay explained about his decision. “Fabiola had passion and not much else.”

Earlier in the episode, this 32-year-old California resident had a breakdown in the car after returning from the dune buggy reward in the Las Vegas desert. The medics checked her out and diagnosed a panic attack and dehydration, but it wasn’t bad enough to keep her from competing in the dinner service challenge. Some of the other chef-testants, including Lauren Lawless, seemed to accuse Fabiola of exaggerating her illness.

Thursday night on “Hell’s Kitchen,” the show featured its first medical situation of the season in only the third episode — is that a new record? One contestant couldn’t survive the drama of the competition and required a paramedic’s assistance, while their teammates waited to see if they’d make it to dinner service. Elsewhere in the episode, Chef Gordon Ramsay tasked the players with making Caesar salad dressing from scratch and then one tearful chef-testant ended up going home at the end of the hour.

For the first time ever, “Hell’s Kitchen” has left its longtime home in Hollywood to film its 19th season in Las Vegas. Don’t worry — this cycle was produced long before the Covid-19 pandemic began raging across the globe. That’s why the 18 new chef-testants aren’t social distancing or wearing masks as they compete in Sin City. Once again all the power belongs to host Gordon Ramsay, who will eliminate one person every week until only one remains as the winner of the head chef position at his new restaurant in Lake Tahoe. So who was the first person eliminated from “Hell’s Kitchen: Las Vegas”?
