Chinese production and talent company Er Dong Pictures shed some light on its latest film investment slate and growing web of relationships in Asia and Hollywood.
The company, which is in the process of establishing a joint venture with Hollywood talent firm The Gersh Agency, and has a 12-film co-funding deal with Starlight Culture Entertainment, announced its involvement in new projects with Roland Emmerich, Jon M. Chu and Sylvester Stallone.
Projects include “Those About to Die,” a film project with Harald Kloser set as producer. Emmerich and Gianni Nunnari (“The Departed”) are also involved, though their roles were not specified.

Beijing’s Er Dong Pictures will establish a joint venture with Hollywood’s Gersh Agency this year as part of the fast-growing Chinese film investor’s ambitious plans to expand at home and abroad.
The partnership means the 70-year-old American talent agency, which has more than 100 agents representing artists such as Kristen Stewart, Elizabeth Olsen and Tony Jaa, will share its talent resources with Er Dong, while leveraging the latter’s growing influence in the Chinese film industry.
Unveiling the collaboration at FilMart on Monday, Bill Gersh, grandson of the agency’s founder Phil Gersh, said: “As the Chinese film industry thrives, more and more Western talent is being showcased in Chinese films and television. Now is the time for Chinese stories to go global and we’ll have the opportunity to expand our artists’ careers into the Chinese and Asian markets.”

Exclusive: Former BBC entertainment chief Alan Tyler has launched his own independent production company and has scored a magic show pilot for BBC One.
Deadline understands that Tyler has launched North By NorthNorth Media, a non-scripted production company based in Scotland. This comes after he left the British public broadcaster last year after more than a decade.
He left the BBC as executive editor of entertainment commissioning, having been acting controller for entertainment for eight months following the departure of Mark Linsey to run BBC Studios. However, he missed out on securing the top entertainment job, losing out to Kate Phillips. Shows he oversaw at the BBC included Strictly Come Dancing, The Voice, Top Gear and Masterchef as well as Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, All Round to Mrs Brown’s, Let It Shine, Robot Wars and The Mash Report. He joined the BBC in 2005 from Question Time producer Mentorn.

BBC One will offer long lost family members the chance of a five-star reunion in a new Saturday night entertainment show.
Nick Knowles will host gameshow 5 Star Family Reunion during the weekly National Lottery show.
Broadcast reports that the series will see a UK family in the studio working with long lost relatives abroad via a satellite link.
Their main goal is to win a once-in-a-lifetime holiday reunion.
BBC Entertainment commissioning editor Alan Tyler said: "The format promises a perfect combination of head and heart, delivering both terrific stories and 'edge of the seat' gameplay."
Emma Willis and Reggie Yates will also host a multi-location gameshow on the channel, with Prized Apart due to air next month.

BBC One's brand new Saturday night gameshow Can't Touch This is among a raft of new entertainment programmes which have been ordered by the broadcaster.
The ten-part series - which will be filmed in Belfast - has a simple enough premise: if you touch a prize, you win it. However, nothing is that easy and contestants will have to negotiate a huge assault course while battling it out to touch the prizes.

Break the Safe has been recommissioned for a second series.
Nick Knowles's National Lottery quiz show will return for a second run on Saturday evenings on BBC One in 2014.
Seven 45-minute episodes will feature three pairs attempt to break the safe and win up to a £100,000 cash prize.
The first series of the game show scored high ratings for BBC One back in July.

Dating show Sexy Beasts will air on BBC Three next Valentine's Day, the channel has announced.
The broadcaster revealed today that it is making a pilot for the show, which will focus on the differences between emotional and physical attraction for men and women.
The first episode - expected to air in conjunction with Valentine's Day on February 14 - will examine whether true love can ever develop based purely on character.
"The show promises a completely unique take on dating," BBC Three's Alan Tyler said. "Both funny and insightful, we are looking forward to bringing a twist to Valentine's Day."
Meanwhile, Simon Welton from Sexy Beasts' production company Lion Television Entertainment said that the show "takes dating decisions to a whole new level".
