TORONTO -- Canadian country music star Shania Twain and Lillix, a women's rock group recently signed to Madonna's Maverick label, were the big winners Saturday at the Canadian Radio Music Awards. Timmins, Ontario-born Twain grabbed the songwriter award and the chart topper award for her latest album Up during an awards ceremony in Toronto organized by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. Lillix, a rock quartet hailing from Cranbrook, British Columbia, walked away as best new group on contemporary hit radio and best new group on hot adult contemporary. Other winners included Toronto singer Fefe Dobson earning the best new solo artist award on contemporary radio for her hit single "Take Me Away". The awards show, which recognizes airplay on Canadian radio stations, also spotlighted Shaye -- a trio comprising Tara MacLean, Kim Stockwood and Damhnait Doyle -- as the best new group on mainstream adult contemporary radio.
